Pretend it's a penalty shot if it makes you feel better.

Yeah, is it really any more arbitrary than an empty net goal?

Man that was a nice deke. And if shootout winners have been counted as goals since forever, then I'm okay with that if it's been this way all along - say if people like Daniel Sedin, Markus Naslund have benefited from this way of recording stats when they played in the SEL.

That's probably a better comparison.

Very similar to Kassian's go-to move.

I thought Kass preferred the back-hand, at least he did in junior.

Yep, just went and watched it again and you're right. I think I was confused because Kassian is a righty.

So the 2007 world junior semi final is being aired on Tsn right now.

Makes me sad.

RIP Luc.

Sure is. The add started with seeing an edlerly couples' bare butts. NHL.com doesn't need that.

Was just looking through some new articles on HF, and look who they just mentioned:
Quote:
Anton Rodin, LW Chicago Wolves (AHL)
Drafted by the Vancouver Canucks, 2nd round, 53rd overall, 2009

Now in his second season of North American pro hockey, Anton Rodin has yet to make much of an impact in the offensive end for the Chicago Wolves. Success at Sweden's junior level and on the international stage had Rodin pegged as a potential top-six winger to complement the Canucks' depth down the middle.

The 21-year-old Swede has yet to even live up to those expectations in the AHL, where he is currently skating in a top-nine role for the Wolves but making little progress on the score sheet. After 10 goals, 27 points in 62 games as an AHL rookie, Rodin has yet to put the puck in the net through his first 11 games of 2012-13. He has a pair of assists so far, but has not brought a consistent effort to get pucks on net or create many scoring chances. His reliable play in the defensive end has kept him from becoming a liability, but it is not the start expected of Rodin now that he has a year of AHL experience under his belt.

Watching that game last night, I had forgotten how good a player Luc was. He looked hellagood.
What a wasteful tragedy.

I kept an eye on Morgan Zuinick too after reading some of what thefeebster had to say last year. He looks decently polished for a freshmen. Offensively it's tough to get a read because the badgers don't look all that good.

Unrelated, but Riley Barber, is having a great breakout season as a freshman for Miami(?). He was another guy the feebster brought up. Washington got him in the 6th round. Another finger to be pointed at the scouts IMO.

Earlier in this thread people were looking for ways to track stats for our NCAA guys, well there is a good thread on he prospects forward to do this as they group each teams prospects together and summarize heir contributions. Wes Myron scored his first point , a goal, this weekend for BU.
Thoughts on why Labate isn't putting up points?

Zulinick was benched early in the season because Coach Eaves was unimpressed by his work ethic away from the ice. Something to keep in mind, but still could be someone to keep an eye on in the coming years. Yes! I got one right Barber has been off to a hot start. Would've been nice to have those 4th rounders back; could've gotten Laleggia and Barber like we (or I) wanted!

From reports from Coach Parker, Myron has been playing well but just hasn't been putting up points like he should. Hope he picks it up! An article about their 3rd line: http://www.thebostonhockeyblog.com/2...ect-first.html

Darren Archibald plays tonight as the Kalamazoo Wings are in Fort Wayne to play the Comets. Archibald's stat line is a bit interesting. He's played in all 15 K-Wings games and has 6 goals and 6 assists. That puts him second on the team in goals and fourth in points. He leads the team in power-play goals with 4. He also leads in shots-on-goal (55) and in penalty minutes per-game (1.80). He's plus 5, second-best on the team.

Prab Rai hasn't been dressed the last couple of games, after reappearing briefly following another absence. He has one assist in seven games. An odd stat: he leads the team in shots-on-goal per game.

I know that the chances of Archibald making it all the way to the NHL are very slim, and Rai's chances are worse than that. Still, it would be great to hear from a poster who has actually seen them play. Anyone know anyone in Kalamazoo? Does someone have a gal there?

Also: Here's the goaltending stats. Cannata hasn't had much action yet. Here's hoping his numbers improve.

Name GP Min GA SO GAA W L OTL SOL SA SVS SAV%
1 Joel Martin 11 661 27 1 2.45 6 5 0 0 351 324 0.923
2 * Joe Cannata4 239 14 3.51 2 2 0 0 131 117 0.893

You know you're on a low scoring team when you miss 8 games out of 22 and you're still 2nd in scoring (by only 4 points too). Surprisingly they're still managing to be 1st in their division.

Darren Archibald was pointless in Kalamazoo's 4-3 loss to Fort Wayne tonight. Prab Rai did not dress. Adam Polasek had a goal and is now at 2 goals and 2 assists on the season (16 games). Cannata stopped 31 of 35 shots, so his numbers won't be improving.

I thought Cannata would be lighting it up in the ECHL, but his numbers thus far have not been good. Hopefully he can turn things around.
