Yeah I'm getting a good laugh from that.

I couldn't believe that was a topic. Luckily it seems like 90% of the responses in there are reasonable.

I mean, don't people remember the All-Star draft? Benn sat in the corner, talked to no one, and stared at his phone the entire time. Then looked like he wanted to take a cyanide capsule once he got on stage.

Look at the top scorers in the DEL and tell me they aren't giving out 4 assists per goal for Berlin: DEL top scorers

I'm sure it all checks out, but when you have 4 guys in the top 8 and they are all that assists heavy (21G 54A combined), makes you wonder. Must be pp goals where the playas are setting up the secondary scorers and Dmen. I don't care to audit it, it just looks fudged at a glance IMO.

4-1 Hamburg yesturday. Benn had the opening goal. Highlights are at the bottom of main page del.org. They were up against former Stars minor league goalie Jason Bacashihua.

Is Krefeld in the same time zone as Hamburg? I know they are 7 hours ahead of us. So that should mean a 10:45 am puck drop for us in Dallas. Thanks for the heads up!

Germany only has one time zone, makes it a lot easier here

Yep, should be 10:45 am Dallas time

Thanks for the link. Hopefully playing on the big ice helps Benn's skating. Hamberg's goalie has bailed them out a few times already.

Tune in, 10 seconds later Benn puts it in his own net. OOPS

On the positive side, Benn did have a big hit on Ehrhoff, so at least he's engaged and not just coasting around.

The camera work seems pretty good, the HD quality is very appreciated. Feel like I'm watching it on cable instead of a stream. The extra ice is always interesting to watch.

Yeah the stream is very high quality. It's like watching the Sunday Night Football stream on NBC or something.

Tight game, high pace with only few high quality scoring chances.
Jamie doesnt play his best game (not just because of the unfortunate bounce off his foot), he often stands against two opponents, not giving him any space (which shall open more ice for his linesmates).

The stream is by servus.tv, the tv channel of red bull. They would never stream in bad quality

Not getting the penalty shot there... He got his shot off initially, why give him a penalty shot?

Either way, that was brutal by Roy. He screwed up 3 times in the span of 5 seconds.

Tight game, the Pens did a good job of slowing Benn down in the neutral zone.

Some of the other guys are fun to watch. Dolak had a nice rush end-to-end rush in the 3rd, and Wolf and Flaake seem to play well together.

Flaake is a interesting prospect. He is 22 and drafted by the Leafs (dont know if they have still the rights for him).
I think he has the potential to play NHL anytime.

The Leafs no longer hold his rights. He's a free agent.

I agree, I thought he was the best player on the ice, and that includes Benn.

Nieuwendyk ought to be familiar with him also since he was drafted while Joe was in the Toronto front office.

Some thoughts on Benn's next contract, taking some news of the CBA negotiations and applying it to this case:

http://www.defendingbigd.com/2012/11...t-dallas-stars

Quote:
Eberle’s extension kicks in next summer, and it brings him to the age of 29. The current UFA age in the NHL is 27 (or seven accrued seasons). The NHL initially demanded that all players have 10 years of experience before becoming UFAs, but they have since softened that demand to eight years accrued (or at the age of 28, whichever comes first). That extra year isn’t a significant change from the previous CBA, but it does give teams an extra year of ownership over their restricted assets.

"However, neither is as good at Benn right now."

Grammatically not correct and I would argue Eberle is better then Benn right now.
