I don't think it'll be that hard. He's not an 18 yo, he'll be 23 in 13-14 - that's good age for his type of Dman. He'll get prime offensive end ice time (Ozone starts and PP #1 unit). The Oilers will allow him to make mistakes and take risks so long as he produces. The Oilers have the scoring forwards to allow him to rack up assists.

I missed tonight's game but Marincin looks like a potential top 4 D for us.

The kid line will more than likely draw the tough match-ups, so he could see plenty of butter soft minutes with Yakupov-xxx-Hemsky.

With that kind of playmaking on the wings, he could rack up the goals too.

Jealous and sweet to see a fan from Hawaii.

Schultz has a special talent for the offensive side of the game. Hopefully he can work on his defensive side a little bit more.

No cheating, we just sucked enough to be in serious contention...again for the pick. Silver lining is that CBJ may not have chosen Yak's anyway....calm down there buddy

At this pace, he'd likely end the year with the AHL equivalent of the Hart Trophy, the Art Ross Trophy, the Calder Trophy and the Norris Trophy. Might have a shot at the Lady Byng as well.

LOL, craziness.

Schultz just keeps on producing - two more assists tonight. He is on pace for some unreal numbers if he plays a full season:

76 GP, 40 Goals, 72 Assists, 112 Points

That would be ridonculous from a defenceman. The leading scorer in the AHL last year had 93 points and the top defenceman only had 61 points.

Obviously it's a freak year in the AHL but Schultz is scary good. It's unreal to think that he's the one creating a lot of these goals too and not Hall, Nugent-Hopkins, or Eberle. He really is the catalyst for this Oklahoma club.

There is allot to be said for letting a draft pick (prospect) spend his time developing. Schultz is now ready for prime time in the NHL four years after he was drafted. Ifi was an Oiler fan I would be beyond thrilled, you pick up Nail and Schultz in one off season.

For sure, we just need to start filling in some secondary and tertiary roles and we can start to make some noise.

If Justin Schultz scores 40 points in his first NHL season I would be over the moon. At this point I really wouldn't be surprised if he scored more. I'm a little bit surprised at not just how smart he is, but how skilled he is. He's a world class talent and he really is the guy that gets things going, he's leading on the ice. The NHL is a big adjustment though, so we'll have to wait and see.
