This news article might suggest the 73s would be around till the end of the 14/15 season.

The OJHL has contracted the number of teams from, I believe, 31 down to 22 in recent years. The contractions were an effort to reduce the watering down of the teams and enhance the competitiveness along with making the teams more attractive to players to move to Ontario. Maybe the CCHL is considering something along the same lines.

The west has historically placed strong teams at the Royal Bank Cup (RBC) and that was even after the teams played best of seven series (Man. vs. Sask & Albera vs. BC). It is my understanding that those four leagues will now compete in a tourney similar to the Fred Page Cup and send two reps to the RBC. The reps might be fresher after not having to bash each other in a long 7 game series.

So should the CCHL go down to an eight team league?
What would be the criteria on choosing what teams to eliminate? attendance? Records?

He has had shoulder issues in the past.

Was at the Cumberland/Colts game today and Cornwall had no problem dismantling the grads. The colts forwards were just too fast for the grads D. The grads had a lot of turnovers that the colts capitalized on. Cumberland has some good young players but still has a lot of work to do.

A lot of people have been knocking the CCHL lately saying it has been watered down in recent years. To this theory, I would like to reply by saying the Central League is a very strong developmental league. Players who have come and gone through the CJ will always have a special bond to the league, and I'm sure they attribute much of their success to the Central League. The league is very well run compared to other leagues. Each team has owners who care and knowledgable staff. Any opinions on this matter?

Also, Brent Norris of the Nepean Raiders has committed to the University of Connecticut Huskies for the 2013-14 season, when they will be joining the Hockey East conference. Congratulations Brent!!! My sources are working on another possible commitment that has recently occured out of Raider Nation. Has anyone heard anything?

Considering the CCHL won the RBC cup in 2011...But as a whole I could agree that the league is not as strong this year as in the past 5 years.

Brindamour just tweeted that he's joining the Gloucester Rangers.

Also, from 73's website:

Kemptville trades Dylan Brind'amour (1993 G) to Gloucester in exchange for Cornwall's 4th round pick in the 2013 CCHL Draft and PDF.
The 73's wish Dylan the best of luck with the Rangers.

CP Trades

CP trades D Mike Maciag to Coquitlam of the BCHL for a PDF.

CP acquires G Brendan O'Neil from Kingston of the OJHL for a PDF. Who's gone, Kujava or Laforest?

67's

Heard 67's have signed 16 year old Kevin Groulx of the Jr B Stittsville Royals. Tough break for Kanata.

I heard Kanata might be on the move after this season to Arnprior. Don't know how true that is, but heard it from a pretty good source.

Congrats to Kevin-----but I think it is very premature to worry about Kanata in regards to this. Signing and staying are two completely different things.

That is very true, he would be one of few who have made the jump directly from jr.b to the ohl

I highly doubt its Kujava as he was brought in from Green Bay, Wisconsin and apparently a ton of money was paid to his former team in a pdf. They wouldnt give up on him that quickly. Laforest is only 17 and will be headed back to the jungle is my guess.

Could I have a report on Alex Boivin?

He's getting a tryout with Quebec next week.
