@TSNBobMcKenzie: Ryan Murray was penciled in beside Dougie Hamilton on (lockout) Team Canada top D pair. I'd now pencil in Morgan Rielly for that spot.
Ryan Murray has a small tear in his shoulder labrum, puts his WJC status in huge jeopardy. Could be a good thing for Rielly though.
Awesome. Team Canada's defense is going to be really deep this year. Hopefully we can get back to Gold!

I think Rielly was/is going to play himself into a prominent role regardless. Sucks for Canada to have Murray out.
Hopefully Finn or Percy can get an invite and get a camp experience at the very least.

That's too bad for Murrary and you never want to see that happen to anyone. However assuming Rielly plays on the same Defense paring with Hamilton that will be great to see.

Would imagine Percy is higher on Canada's pecking order due to having more experience. Not sure if Percy can make it, but his chances would def be better now with Murray being injured.
Even if it's a good thing for Rielly I'd personally want Murray to be there. We haven't tasted gold in almost 4 years and I'm craving a WJC championship. Plus HFBoards seems to have a lot of annoying people on the main board who are from outside Canada and they love taking their digs and ripping us new ones everytime we lose. It would be nice to see them shut up for a bit and have the best possible team we can, like '05.

Sucks about Murray, Columbus fans deserve better. Hope he makes a full recovery.
Losing Murray definitely increases team Canada's need for a defensive defense-man and a leader. Hopefully Percy gets the nod.
He should get a chance to make the team, especially considering how similar his game is to Murray's. He'll be fighting with Siemens, Dumba, Reinhart, Ceci, and others for the job so it would really mean something if he's able to crack the squad. Having Rielly, Biggs, and Percy at the WJC would be a great showing for Leafs prospects.

No, the compensation for Kessel was two firsts and a second. Offer sheet was never a realistic possibility. It would've just locked Kessel in Boston for a year.
The first turned into Hamilton. I was upset when Boston got him - never thought he'd fall that far.
However, we have an excellent prospect in Rielly now. A Hamilton-Rielly pairing would be sick for Canada.

Murray is sidelined with a tear in his labrum. So you're not wrong. Rielly is a beast, but hopefully it's nothing serious...
It's just a side-effect of the Kessel trade
