Couture is better right now. Duchene has the higher ceiling.

I'd pick couture for now, and the future, but I'd say Duchene has the higher ceiling...

Couture is just too good, and appears to only be improving

Couture is like Duchene without the bad season.

Couture is marginally better at this point, but Duchene holds marginally more value. Couture also plays with much better wingers IMO.

Duchene. Couture is 3 years older and plays with Marleau, Clowe, Thornton, etc. Versus Duchene with an aging Hejduk and Chuck Kobasew...

Couture hardly ever plays with Marleau or Thornton. His linemates the last two seasons have mainly been an injured Clowe (who Couture makes better, not the other way around), and Wingels/Ferriero.

Duchene also played with players like Stastny and O'Reilly on the PP, whereas Couture again played with players like Clowe and Wingels.

3 years?!?! well that definitely changes my perspective... no doubt duchene will be at couture's level, of not higher by then

All are pretty much better in their own way, Duchene has more skill, usually racks up more points, but Couture is better on defense and is more physical. But I'll take a homer vote in Duchene.

But couture is on the incline, duchene hopefully can bounce back from a bad season and hit 70 points... If so then its Duchene, his defensive game is also not bad and will only improve

Five years from now these threads about Duchene are going to look ridiculous. Hell I'd wager in one year these threads will look silly.

Duchene was a better player a year ago and has the higher ceiling. **** season not withstanding, I'm picking the younger player who's already produced at a higher level.

If this poll asked "Who would you rather have?" I'd have chosen Duchene. But as far as who is better right now? It's Couture.

No one is saying Duchene won't be an awesome player. People are just saying Couture is better right now. Calm down

2 points, 2 whopping whole points? that is producing at a higher level?

duchenes rookie season 55 points in 81 games
coutures rookie season 9 points in 25 games

duchenes 2nd season 67 points in 80 games
coutures 2nd season 56 points in 79 games

duchenes 3rd season 28 points in 58 games
coutures 3rd sesaon 65 points in 80 games

if you actually take points per game

duchene is at 0.68 points per game.
couture is at .70 points per game.

What duchene was doing in his sophomore year up until all of our wingers got injured or traded for EJ, impressed me more than any stretch I've seen out of Logan. Who did however manage to maintain his play for a full season, unlike Duchene, which is why I get people picking him over Dutchy, even if I don't agree.

To oversimplify drastically, Duchene's peak in his sophomore year was higher but didn't last the full season, Couts peak last year wasn't as high, but he was able to maintain it. Given both players youth, I'm picking the kid who I feel has flashed brighter, especially when he's the younger of the two and has had a worse team and coach to teach him.

I'd somewhat easily take Couture over Duchene
