year. Big game today
Personally hoping its Ashton. Also one goal against lehner and we might have a good chance of ruining his mojo.

I think Eakins said something about Ashton taking Komorav's place. So I'm guessing it will be Kadri-Aucoin-Ashton as top line.

and yes, the more games he plays, the more accurate a judgement can be. the ultimate judgement comes only when he's retired, i guess.
Can only judge his history not his future.

As he is in his 3rd. AHL season, we should expect improvement in his stats. At the end of this year if statistically he has not improved there should be great concern. He brings offense and will be rated based on that. It isn't figure skating so artistic impression is irrelevant, blaming linemates isn't part of the evaluation.

This is his PPG+ make or break year.

So have we officially thrown in the towel on Kadri being a center?

Kadri's been playing center more times than not from the games I've watched.

But yeah I think he'll likely end more of a winger that can slide to the center position if needed.

Well I wish he was playing centre more. But Eakins seems to put him more on the wing this year. I would prefer him in centre because then he can be better at faceoffs and probably learn better defensively in that position. Kadri, Gardiner and Frattin are three players that should get the most icetime for the Marlies since they are NHL ready and most likely to play for the NHL once the lockout ends.

I still think we are grooming him for the center spot. Just teaching the guy his game in the wings.

I suppose the direction has come from above, otherwise they wouldn't have gone out and signed free agent centers to take the ice time.

Based on the Leafs winger depth, someone must be slated to be go in the Luongo deal.

How would you know that the leafs are even going for Luongo?

If he's only playing center part time in the AHL it doesn't look promising for playing full time center in the NHL.

I don't. Heck, I don't even know if there will be a NHL ...

However, if you count the openings and count the players ...

Yeah I have a feeling they're making him a winger. Even when Colborne is on his line, they make Colborne centre rather than Kadri.

As I've said before, just because you are playing in the wing doesn't mean will stick to it in the big leagues. Giroux had the same way and colborne who is playing center was a winger in college. Eakins has also put him in the center in the past as well, and he's become more a primary playmaker than anything tbh.

Lehner: 1.77 gaa, .945 sv%

Assuming he starts, we'll have a tough one tonight.

He really has been something recently, however if we strike quickly i think we can get to him. Last time I remember that was his Achilles heel.

EXPECTED MARLIES LINEUP
Link:http://blog.marlies.ca/preview-marlies-senators/

IN GOAL: #30 Ben Scrivens

FOWARD LINES
Kadri – Aucoin – Ashton
Deschamps – Colborne – Frattin
Hamilton – McKegg – Zigomanis
D’Amigo – Acton – Scott

DEFENSIVE PAIRINGS
Gardiner – Kostka
Fraser – Blacker
Ranger – Holzer

Anyone know the reason behind splitting up Fraser/Holzer? I think Dallas started doing this last game.

Blacker felt like he was struggling early on and thought his play would be better in more of a shut down role. He asked Eakins to put him with Fraser because he thought they had good chemistry. I thought Fraser/Holzer would be glued for the long haul, but Fraser looked amazing last weekend after the move.

Blacker requested it, and Eakins has given it a shot and it did wonders for him actually. He's played more solid and gotten stronger at his game knowing Fraser has his back as much as Ranger was great with him. Eakins said why not knowing that he was getting more responsibility, it was in an interview I believe.

I am surprised Ross wasn't put in, however glad to see Ashton is with Aucoin, that guy has been really good the past few games , his skill level is finally showing up.

Love watching Blacker live. He has progressed so well playing with the Marlies. He's going to push for jobs next season with the Leafs. Also, I would love to see Paul Ranger get a chance to play with the big club. Sign him to a 2 year deal at a 1.2 mill would be perfect. He makes everyone around him better.

Ranger is a lot bigger than I thought, no wonder the leafs were happy to get him. As for blacker I think he still another year away from the NHL.
