I just checked the AHL.com top scorers and our top scorer, Jakob Silfverberg, currently sits at #124 in the league... on page friggin' seven. I expected at least one Senator in the top forty.
Where is our offence? It might be simply spread out evenly but where are our offensive stars? No one is sticking out and taking charge. Is it because we have a young, inexperienced team? Is it because we have an inexperienced coach? Is it the system in play? Are we playing very defense-first like the parent team did under Jacques Martin? Doesn't appear so from the games I've watched but we do seem very disorganized. Is it because there hasn't been enough time yet for the players to adapt to the system? Is it because many of our forwards have to adapt to North-American sized ice? A combo of all this?
It's not supposed to be for lack of talent but the execution seriously doesn't yield the offensive results expected so far. I know it's early in the season but, with no NHL, I need something...

New coach, very new team - that's what I think it is. Most of these guys have never played together, throw in a coach who's very unfamiliar with everyone and it's gonna take 20 ish games for them to get a good feel.
Don't forget that since it is early, it also means there is a very low variance in goal scorers at the moment. I haven't looked, but I'm guessing there are pages and pages of guys that have the same number of goals atm.
Silf's 2 points tonight brought him up to 106. If he did it again, he'd be top 35 or so in the league. It's so early in the season that the difference doesn't say that much.

I was going to answer your question but you have all the answers in the your own post... That's not fair!
Quick summary :
- Luke Richardson : 1st ever gig as a head coach
- PP sucks
- Cowen and Da Costa injured
- Youngest team in the AHL : lot of pro inexperience
- Zibanejad and Silfverberg still adjusting to the NA game/ice
- Lack of chemistry : too many new players playing together for the 1st time
- Too much talent spread... There's about 9-10 guys who could have a decent production, but realistically they won't have all 50 pts and more (example : Jessiman will be a victim of the depht. He had 27 goals and 44 pts in 67 games last year)
PS : Team played a bit less games than others... Offense is very spread out, currently at 2.64 goals per game (which is more than the NHL average), will improve as we move forward
The Sens prospect pool is probably not nearly so talented as many sens fans convinced themselves it was.
Is it that or is it that most people are forgetting that not all top prospects dominate at young ages.
It's the youngest team in the AHL and pretty mediocre and experienced at center. And without Cowen. Even good teams go through scoring droubts, don't think we can take much from this until the season goes on.

Every game I learn something and feel more and more comfortable out there.”
Well first off, its a really small sample size to go off of. 2nd and the biggest issue is the breakout. Be it a lack of talent on D or the system, the puck does not exit the zone in a timely fashion. That's very evident on reason #3 which is the PP. Its not very good considering the talent available and they have a tough time gaining the zone.
All in all, I don't see any big issues given the rookie status of the majority of the players and coach on this team. Its coming. I believe Bingo have gone something like 4-0-1 lately with more scoring after a slump. I'll look up the numbers later.

a 14 game sample size is enough to show this?
Remember, this is a lot of our top prospects first pro games. It's only been 14 games and they're starting to look a lot better. When you have a group of players who are playing their first pro season, it's going to be hard on a lot of them. You have to give them time to develop their game, adjust and then start producing. Throughout all of this, since they're young, they have a lot of pressure on themselves, get down and lose confidence when they aren't producing in those first 14 games.
I wouldn't be too worried. The team is getting better. We'll start seeing Zibanejad put the puck in the net more often soon. Same with Stone.
PS : The B-Sens are on a 4 games winning streak and have scored 15 goals (3.75 goals per game), seems like an odd moment for this thread. Maybe they are just starting to figure things out
Most of our prospects will bust, every indication and history would suggest. That's just the way things work.
That being said, one can certainly improve the chances of getting better than average outcome out of the picks, and I believe Sens have a pretty good scouting department to scew odds in our favour.
