Ha. What? I get that Dustin Brown is a really good player and a really good leader.. But out of all the players in the league you could've picked, why Shea Weber and him?

ha ha, pulled it out of my arse really. had to pick two players quickly and Shea popped into my head because he's been all over these boards forever since the Preds matched Philly's offer, and everyone seems to think the Preds can't affort to keep him so he's in a lot of trade threads.... and i just happened to be thinking of the cup champs and Brown popped into my head because he seems top be a good, gritty, all round player and leader with decent size and can score mid twenties for goals and mid fifties for points.

It'd be like Christmas morning in NY with the talent coming back. Either way, I don't even wanna think about losing both those guys.

So what about Girardi to MIN? He's a UFA soon, and with two contracts above 7.5m, 2 in the 6m range, and Del Zotto holding out for ~3m, the Rangers are going to need cap space and there's a high risk of losing Girardi to the market.

I mean the only other time New Jersey has beaten the Rangers in the playoffs was when they were the New York Jagr's and Jagr, Nylander and nearly everyone else on our team was not in the line up. Our two best players being iced were Rucchin and Straka.

Do you really want to start this?

Gaborik's also a soon to be UFA and he has the way higher cap hit. Why should we trade our only top 4 RHD who's on a steal of a deal for cap space? Just makes no sense.

Maybe if Sauer got healthy and you got Gilbert back. MDZ can play the right side well, he's more often Staal's partner than Bickel or Stralman's. His offensive style works better on the right side too, it's easier to set up one-timers.

Sauer may not ever play again. MDZ doesn't play the right side that well, he often looks uncomfortable. His play on the left is far superior.
Del Zotto, like all of our defensemen, has no one timer to speak of.
His 10 goals this year:
Slap 2
Snap 3
Wrist 3
Backhand 2

He doesn't utilize the one timer on the PP or ever. He's more of a sniping wrister d-man.

Girardi's style of play likely means he won't be nearly as effective in a few years, but at this point, frankly, there's just no reason to deal him whatsoever.

*insert bernmeister trade offer where we trade half our team for Hall or Hamilton*

It's also worth mentioning that most Rangers fans think moving Staal to the right side will cause the universe to implode on itself ending all existence.

I don't share in this sentiment but that's just me.

The package to get McDonagh alone would probably make Wild fans cringe. McDonagh is an untouchable NHL established young stud. It wouldn't just need to be Granlund it would have to be a lot more. You cannot ask for a NHL player that is boarderline untouchable and then give conditions about which prospects are heading out. Though not even a truck load of Minnesota futures would get a trade, the Rangers are trying to win right now, they need a player that helps them now and a bunch of high value prospects (which they will name, not the Wild) to consider this.

How many of those were in the conference finals? Many Rangers fans (although not so much on HF) still bring up 94 for trash-talking purposes. When you combine it with the fact that MSG plays reruns of the run as often as they do, and the Rangers retired everyone from that team's number, you can see why it's comical to us Devils fans

Anyway, lets not derail this thread

It really matters that much in the conference finals? You sound like you're nitpicking, but who's really keeping track? The point is the Devils don't exactly fare well against the Rangers in the playoffs, and if we're going to nitpick, the Devils have never beaten the Rangers and won the cup in the same postseason. The Rangers, have.

Rangers retired everyone from that team's number? Messier, Graves, Leetch and Richter are everyone? Yeah, no reason to retire Mark Messier's number. He isn't the 2nd leading scorer of all time and the leader that brought them to that cup. Adam Graves isn't one of the all time leaders in franchise goals scored and a community hero. Brian Leetch doesn't have the all time lead in points scored and isn't the franchise's all time best defender and Mike Richter didn't have 300+ wins for the Rangers. C'mon, now you're just being ridiculous.

Not to mention Koivu has a full NMC as well. Think he wants to leave Minnesota when they finally have talent besides him and an assload of prospects to be a good team for years?

I wouldn't go that far. Del Zotto doesn't do too badly on the right side. I just think Staal's game would translate better there.
