Also, it's a player who brings a very mediocre to below average team into a playoff team.

Quick translation: From the media box in Barrie, Galchenyuk's name is oftem coming up in discussions. Jason Ford, the GM of the Barrie Colts and Glavin, the Assistant GM from the Sting both said the same thing: "For the last month, Alex has probably been the best player in the OHL" . Glavin also said "Alex is really carrying this team on his back. He took some time to get going at the start of the season, but since he got his timing back, he's at the top"

I know this doesn't mean anything, but its always nice to hear the GM of another team (especially one that has Mark Schiefele on it) say that Galchenyuk has probably been the best player in the OHL during the last month.
Id agree that Galchenyuk has been vital to Sarnia's success, but since MVP is often a "who did the best statistically" award as much as it a "who carried their team the most", I feel that he is behind a few players. If it was entirely based on how much a single player elevates their team, Spencer Martin would be far and away the frontrunner

Good call, I wasn't even considering goalies.

Regardless, these names might change a few times from now till the end of the year.

Will be a great test for Gally and the Sting as London is one of the best teams in the OHL.

Facing 2 of Pitt's best defensive prospects in Harrington and Maata should be a good challenge as well.

Here are Alex's 2 points tonight:

There are a few a couple other Galchenyuk videos on my channel as well, but most of you have seen those already.

If you haven't already, I would really appreciate any followers on twitter: https://twitter.com/antontibaldi

My blog just got picked up by pretty popular site and I'm pretty excited about it. Would like to put together a decent following on twitter to coincide with that. Could use your help.

Cheers.

Well, you and the rest of the Habs fans can take pride in knowing that if you added up the views from all 3 Morgan Rielly videos I uploaded, they still would not equal even half of the views on the 1 Galchenyuk video vs Plymouth.

So there you go

I think he'll eventually surpass Yakupov in the big show.

Looking back the last few years, the 1st overall has always been a clear step above his peers. The only glaring exception is '06 and '03. Ovechkin used to be better than Malkin but not anymore. The 3rd overall has never been close to the 1st in quite a while in terms of on-ice impact. Hopefully, Galchenyuk will break that tendency.

As usual, I was in Sarnia for the game last night versus London covering the Sting.

I must say that Galchenyuk was the ONLY bright spot for the Sting last night. It was one of the best games he has played all season as he showed the will to battle and was hungry for the puck all night (especially late when Sarnia needed 2 goals to tie).

Fantastic pass on the opening goal and a very good goal on the powerplay showcasing how dangerous his shot is. It was nice to see such a great pass and goal to show people his all-around ability.

I especially liked how Galchenyuk showed more of a net drive last night. If he played like this more consistently (driving the net rather than looking for that "pretty pass/goal" then his points would skyrocket even more.

Great showing by Galchenyuk last night.

2006 Toews is obviously better than Johnson.

Sarnia vs, Kitchener, drop of the puck in 5 minutes.

Faksa and Murphy should give Gally trouble, especially Gibson.

Gally will have to earn his points tonight.

The op specifically brought up 3 v 1 so that was why I picked that comparison. It's pretty rare for a first overall to struggle like Johnson and Yakupov is doing just fine right now. Early returns I'd say simply look good for both Galchenyuk and Yakupov.

Gally and the Sting get their butts handed to them by the Kitchener Rangers, 5-0.

5th straight loss, and 1st shutout loss of the season.

IMO, Gally should have gone at least ahead of Ryan Murray. So the 3rd overall vs the 1st overall debate is not that relevant. What I definitely give advantage to Gally(not being a homer) is his strong will and strong character..that, I see it less in Yakupov.
