don't rush...don't rush. all we need is him tearing something worse because he's relying on a weakened ankle.

No. And I don't expect him to for a couple weeks. He just had surgery last week.

Kinda glad they got these minor injuries early, this is just a taste of what they're going to be seeing on the big club and need to know that they will be a target out there. Imo, they both need really work on adding 10-15lbs each to really be ready.

Meh. I think of it as bad luck. Although Granlund could've prevented his injury if he would've landed more properly. Brodin couldn't do much in his case.

Brodin just got charged and elbowed to the head by Hall, there was nothing he could do.

While Hall's check wasn't legal, Brodin could've avoided the whole incident by playing it a bit smarter, i.e. by going for the puck earlier and faster. Still not his fault, though. I don't remember there being contact to the head either, but my memory might deceive me.

If Brodin knew that Hall was going to come flying in and steamroll him I'm sure he could have avoided it. I just don't think anyone expected Hall to do that.

If you look at the replay:

1. His partner should have been going for the puck, as he was closer. Which is why he stopped and started quickly. Brodin was only try to make the extra play. Only way this could have been avoided was is Brodin's partner was smarter.

2. Hall took a run from the top of the circles.

3. Hall most certainly makes contact with Brodin's head. Whether it was Hall's elbow or shoulder you can't tell, but the call was an elbow to the head.

the AHL rescinded his match penalty after reviewing it, saying it was shoulder to shoulder

Yup. And his helmet flew off because of the nasty poltergeists hiding in Brodin's pads. League just wants to keep the 'targeted' Barons happy.

This.

It was a blatant attempt to cause injury, and a successful one at that. The fact that Hall didn't even receive a penalty is a disgrace.

He got a 5 minute major and a game misconduct for hit to the head. which is an automatic suspension, but AHL repealed the suspension.

My bad, meant a suspension.

Why aren't suspensions handled based on the injury caused? Say Hall charges and boards Brodin who is subsequently out for 2 months, and Hall wouldn't get to play until Brodin comes back. Otherwise this headhunting will never stop as it was clear that OKC was at an advantage. What stops a team just injuring all the stars from another team in round 1 of the playoffs?

I suppose we should look at the Torres/Hossa incident. Helped the Coyotes more.

It was not. Might have been a charge and even that's a bit questionable. Mainly it was playing tough with some unfortunate results due to unfortunate little details that lead to it. Namely Brodin having to chase the puck that wasn't really his to chase, because his defensive partner had lost his stick. That same partner apparently screened Brodin's vision so that he could only realize Hall was coming after it was too late.

Only thing Brodin could have done and hopefully will do in the future, is prepare himself for the hit. I mean at least take the knowledge from it that, yes, people WILL hit you.
