You beat me to it.

Surprised there are so many underagers on the team and that they didn't pick David Clements. I completely forgot about Andrew Brummitt, I didn't think he was even playing this year.

Really? I looked at this roster and thought wow this team looks old for once lol that sounds weird for a U20 team but obviously I mean a lot of 19 year olds. Last year there was like 13 kids that were under 19 (I could go look it up but I'm lazy as **** today)

Andrew Brummitt is definitely someone I wanna see now, he wasn't on your radar and you're my source of Brit info, especially goalers

He looks like he has some size, always makes me happy when I see a Brit goalie making a national team and he's not 5'9". I always wanted to be a goalie but I knew I'd never be 6'0"+ so I stuck to D my logic was flawed

Well, by underagers I mean 17 year olds who are still eligible for U18's. But I guess that shows how strong our U18's will be this year.

I forgot about Brummitt because I didn't think he was even playing this season, there were no stats for him until recently. It looks like he's backed up at Hull with no minutes played, and has now moved back to Chelmsford which is strange because I'm 90% sure he was in university in Hull, and he won't get much playing time there behind the 2 other guys they have who are both solid #1's at that level.

He was always one of those guys stuck at the wrong club behind better goalies. I last saw him play in the 10-11 season for the Chieftains and he was certainly capable of playing at that level even as a U18. If I had known more about his whereabouts this season I wouldn't have forgotten and he would have definitely been one of my picks, in fact I remember being extremely puzzled 2 years ago as to why he wasn't picked for the U18's.

And yeah, he's a fairly big guy.

If we are lucky we will get a stream for the game against the hosts.

So all four Blaze players got a spot... wow.
I really need to expand my hockey knowledge domestically. I feel bad only knowing anything about those four.

Blaze fans can feel better about themselves now, after they had no players on the senior roster for the first time in quite a few years.

If you want to get to know more players you should attend NIHL Blaze games, it's difficult to get to know young players from other teams in the EIHL when they get very little ice time. Some stat reading on Elite Prospects will help a lot too.

It seems Payette has been reluctant to pick players who are over in NA. Only 2 are on the roster and both play for the same team in a different league to the rest, so it is probable they came over for training camp and the others didn't. It seems he doesn't want to pick players based on reputation.

There could also be the fact that in the eyes of hockey, Liam Stewart isn't British.

Ye I noticed even guys like Jack Prince didn't play U20 until he was 19 years old. I do agree that Liam Stewart is as unbritish as it gets but guys like Conway and Perlini are just as British as Ben O'Connor IMO. Granted I'm not British

Helps that Tom Watkins is the assistant in regards to Coventry guys getting the call up.

On a related point, I really believe giving up the GB job has helped Thommo.

Sorry, I'll give you a serious answer.

This year absolutely not, there's nobody who really stands out.

It's close to impossible but there's a few guys you might want to follow over the next 2 seasons for 2014 draft:
Lewis Hook http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=115937
Jordan Hedley http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=172043
Oliver Betteridge http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=169823

But realistically, you should only hope for them to be taken in the CHL import draft, but even that is a longshot.

Got a chance to see a bunch of these guys play tonight. Slough jets v Peterborough Phantoms. Slough won the game 3-1. I see Godfrey and Connolly from Slough almost every week so not much to say about them, and I've seen Luke Ferrara and Will Weldon quite a few times over the past few seasons.

The guys I was interested in seeing today were Jordan Cownie and Declan Balmer, and I got to see Lewis Hook again, all 3 of them got regular ice time.

I really liked the look of Cownie, he seemed to be all over the ice with a lot of energy and has good hands, though he is quite small, so I don't know why Peterborough thought it was a good idea to put him on a line with the league midget Jamie Line and Will Weldon

Balmer was also very impressive and played good solid D, finishing a few hits. Though he did shoot the puck at my leg when he didn't look before dumping the puck into the zone, which are signs of an inexperienced player since it hardly ever happens at that level, but at least he didn't shout "get out of the way lino"

Will that be televised (aka watchable online)? I'd love to see the U20 team and Tony Hand in 1 game

Certainly not. The EIHL weekly roundup show is the only domestic hockey we get on TV, and there's only the occasional EIHL online live stream (which you have to pay for)
