Holy **** Kovy's +17 in the KHL puts him in 4th place, with a 3 way tie of players holding a +18 for first place!
My god if Kovy could get a plus rating that good in the NHL, and an insane point total, he's a Hart Trophy candidate hands down. If his plus/minus was that good last season and top 5 in the league in both goals, and points, he would have possibly been a candidate. Still wouldn't have beat out Malkin, but might have been nominated.
KHL is still a different animal than the NHL. Closer than ever, but still.
His numbers won't translate back here, but it definitely seems like he's rolling with his more rounded game.
I told you when he signed there, that if he keeps his D-game going, his gonna own the league completely - goals, points, gameplay ... and boy he is bossing around

His improved game might translate somewhat, but I agree, he won't be scoring nearly as much.
I think he can score as much in the NHL, and he will I think but his streak is slowly coming down. He had almost two points per game at one point, but now it's closer to 1.5 a game. I just hope he doesn't use all he's got in the KHL right now.
If there is a season in the NHL Kovy will have played more than anyone else on the team, and have the most mileage by the time things get going. He already sees many marathons most NHL games to begin with.
It's definitely worth a shot to try, he could probably be had for cheap.
There's a concern about him wanting to stay in Russia, though, no?
I wouldn't want to hand over any kind of value, regardless of how low, if he didn't show the slightest interest in playing in Jersey.
