Trend seems to be team tough with a touch or more of being a pain in the arse,moreso then brawling
IMO bang on. Being tough doesnt mean you gotta be able to just drop em and win fights. Shotblocking, winning one on ones, board play, getting to the blue ice, being hard on the puck, difficult to play against, taking a hit to make a play, working back to protect the D zone. Thats the mental and physical toughness that wins games, not the 1 dimensional scrappers. DOnt get me wrong , nothing wrong with having a legit heavyweight (if he can play) its just that other forms of toughness have become more important in winning games.
Seems like an OK deal for the Spits. Not a bad one at all and changes need to be made for a few reasons, mentioned here.
I like Schoenmakers, and was curious/hoping to see if London was interested last deadline or offseason but Mark didnt move on it for a couple reasons.
If the Petes do flip him it could be a good trade for them as well, depending on return.

Mur tonphy did complain of a stiff back after the 5 hour drive to Windsor,perhaps thats why Graeham Brown is in tonites lineup
Although I may not like it, the deal in fact does work for both teams.
The way I see it, if your the Petes, you've just improved in your own end as well as gained some leadership.
You might say well Devlin isn't that great. Well he didn't like Windsor and in the end if you don't like where your playing your not going to perform. I think Devlin will be great as a Pete especially if he gets paired with a Seymour or Boland.
Schoenmakers provides some offensive leadership as well.
If they can keep pucks out of the net which I think they will be able to do better with Devlin and Giugovaz in net + score 2-3 or more goals a game which I think they can do as well with Ritchie, Tanus and Koekkoek They might be able to win some games.
Trevor Murphy Requested a trade home at the beginning of this season and got what he wanted, again if you don't like where your playing your not going to perform to your full potential.
If your the Windsor Spitfires, you've improved on Bateman a ton by adding Murphy plus you brought Murphy back home. Lorrentz should be able to add some scoring as well which is what the Spits need.
I still believe the Spit's core problem lies within their 94's. and I believe acquiring Murphy opens the exit door even more for Bateman.
Trade will help both teams. Good trade, my only complaint is that it goes against what the Petes should be doing, which is building for the next few years.
Getting a look at Graeme Brown now could also be being done to gauge if he could play in the league to add to the defensive depth charts if they would move Bateman for picks and/or a forward.

Looking at our roster - we have only four right-handed shots up front - Ho-Sang, Maletta, Bilcke and Studnicka. Three on defence as well - Ebert, Bateman and Bowen. Adam of course in the dog house and Bowen never playing. Graeme Brown is a left hand shot IIRC.
What a shock. You'd figure these guys would be grateful to play for a perennial loser miles away from civilization.
On another note it looks like Emerson Clark got the message, he's looking pretty good out there tonight. I guess he doesn't want to be the next to punch his ticket out of town. The kid does have too much skill to be putting up the miserable numbers he has so far, he's no goon when he puts his mind to getting the puck at the net.
I don't understand why people keep thinking Emerson is a third liner because he's not, he's been a fourth liner his whole career and the spits are using him as a third line player... And to me Emerson is doing just fine and he's actually exceeding my expectations, the kid plays with grit and a whole bunch of heart.
I was told schoenmakers didn't want to leave windsor at all but Pete's wanted him bad.
Sucks to hear that. I hate trading players who want to be here and were playing well enough - I usually like trading malcontents and players who would benefit from a fresh start of a new team. Shoe benefits nothing from playing in Peterborough - hopefully the Petes will find a contender for him to play with and they can pick up some extra picks or something.
The new kid with the game winner! What a goal too, let all the "Murphy is the next Ellis" hype commence with that wicked one timer. Ho Sang is a treat to watch too, every game he makes a handful of passes you never in a million years thought were possible.
Just one game and newly acquired players usually give extra effort to impress new team/coaches/fans but Lorentz looked good out there with Rychel and Ho-Sang. Josh looks much better at center, more comfortable and seemingly had more open ice to dangle with.
You also heard the name "Murphy" mentioned a ton by PBP, he was active and in where the action was.
In one game I think I heard the names Lorentz and Murphy more than I've heard Johnson, Maletta, Bateman, Clarke mentioned all year.
Just one game though.
Vail seemed to be invisible most of the game - maybe just an off-game for him. Who were his linemates? Marchese and Clarke?
Webermin looks decent enough for Saginaw - first PP unit, solid top four minutes. Locke would look damn good on our team right now as well. There is life after the Spitfires for young players who might be struggling here.
