Just ask Havlat trying to jump over the bench.

When you're competitive though, you play, and ice/do whatever to it after the game. It's just how athletes function. They'd rather play with pain, then sit out, and I can say from experience, though not on an NHL-stage, that I'd rather play if it just hurt a little, until it hurts a lot.

What bar does he frequent? I've only been to the Lamplighter and I don't know about that. He seems more like a Roxy guy to me.

Yeah, I understand that. I've been there, it's tough not being out there with your teammates but you gotta focus on the main goal - and in Vancouver that's being 100% ready for April. It's a tough position to be in and not a fun one, I understand that but I'd rather sit it out and make an impact in more important games than just be hurting and trying to play through it in rather meaningless games, with a chance you could make that injury worse.

I just wish our coaching staff would keep guys out when they know for sure they're hurt and not being as effective as possible in the Regular Season. Heal up for playoffs, rather then going into the playoffs at 60-70% healthy.

Oh well. One thing I like about players playing through injuries especially in the regular season is that they want to contribute and help out the team no matter what.

Admirable for sure... just not sure it makes sense if your team's not in danger of missing the playoffs though.

Yeah, I love that passion. It really shows the players want to be playing here and contributing to the team. But sometimes that passion can cloud best judgment.

Which is why I think players will play through injuries, the passion for the game.

He was supposed to be out until mid-January. So there you go.

Gillis was on Global BC yesterday & said Kesler is progressing well but wouldn't be able to play if the season started in Dec.... sounds like he is on time for a January return, that is if there is hockey.

Aquilini must be voting "No Deal" until games slip to Jan.

That's hardly relevant, though still tragic.

Well at least if we lose the year we get a fully rehabbed and rested team....silver linings!

Haven't heard anything, but Kesler and Garrison "looked" fine at the hockey thing at Cambie so that might be a good sign.

Hooker's Green. Lots of Canucks go there.

http://blogs.theprovince.com/2012/12...son-surgeries/

Quote:
VANCOUVER ó Ryan Keslerís return from offseason shoulder and wrist surgeries has been pushed back several months, according to his agent. The Vancouver Canucks beg to differ on the extent of that timeline provided by Kurt Overhardt, but itís not a stretch for anyone to suggest that the centre wonít be back next month as forecasted earlier this fall.

When Kesler was re-evaluated two weeks ago at the Cleveland Clinic to assess progress from a May 8 procedure on his left shoulder and June 27 surgery on his left wrist, it was determined the rehab load placed on one side of his body was taking a toll and that progress has been slow.

ďThe re-evaluation was positive in that the surgeries were successful,Ē said Overhardt. ďHowever, the compounding nature of both of those surgeries being on the same side of the body, itís been very hard to properly rehab either one of the them ó particularly the shoulder ó because thatís obviously a big deal.

ďI donít think itís fair to have any sort of time frame when heís going to be 100 per cent and cleared to play. I donít have a crystal ball and itís certainly months away, itís not weeks away. Itís several months away.Ē
damn it.

Hopefully that's the doctors being extra cautious in order to ensure that Kesler still gets paid if the lockout continues.
