He sure means him. From what I gather, he's pretty much Barkov's designated mentor at this point, so slotting Hansen with them seems like a no-brainer. Then again it sucks for the fellow 2013-draftee Haapala who's stationed on the line light, might even be sent down because of this.

Watch, I've seen a few of Tappara's games streamed on justintv and I tuned into one for them.

The quality and availability of FEL streams isn't as high as KHL and SEL games, but there are still some out there.

Looks like he is also planning to join Denmark for their Olympic qualifier in the new year. Nicklas Jensen was one of the players named to that group last week, if I'm not mistaken, but they seemed to be leaving most of their NHL players off of it.
Yes, Jensen was named for the national team that will play three exhibition matches next month. The NHL players were likely left out because it's still uncertain if they will be available or not, and the national team manager wants to have a closer look at the players who will be fighting for the final spots of the team. But even if NHL'ers were on the team, Jensen would be on the team, no doubt. He is probably the best Dane not in the NHL.

Hansen with a goal and two assists on his first game. Playing in a line with former NHLer and stanley cup winner Ville Nieminen, and 2013 nhl draft potential top 3 pick Alexander Barkov.

Didnt see the goal but the second assist was a beauty on the powerplay.

Wow, he's playing with Barkov? Nice.

Pretty sure Barkov is going to benefit from seeing Hansen and Nieminen prep and play too.

Highlights from Jannik Hansen's first match.

http://www.iltalehti.fi/iltvsmliiga/...27195_v8.shtml

Tappara in blue. Hansen scores on pp to 3-1 and his assist (also on a pp) to the 4-1 goal shows his passing ability!

Watching those high lights makes me want the NHL to go to big ice. So much better for skaters and so much harder for those who just look to lay hits. You can't hit what you can"t catch.

I like it too. I wish they'd go to some sort of hybrid. Not as big as Intl. but bigger than the present NHL ice.

The Finnish ice is actually smaller than in Sweden and other European countries. But I agree with the statement. It's too easy to play destructively in the NHL.

NHL Regulation = 200' x 85' (61m x 26m)
Finland = 58m x 28m, 58m x 30m, 60m x 28m (no regulated size. IIRC, 58 x 28 is pretty common)
IIHF Regulation = 60m x 30m

Anyone else concerned that practically no Canucks are playing/competing in meaningful hockey games should there actually be a season?

Naw, given the way minutes are distributed on this team, how long the post season runs (usually) are and the commitment level of our top end guys, I'm not too concerned. Let the twins, Kesler, Hamhuis, Edler get some rest, those guys rack up a TON of mileage.

& you actually have to think of the actual mileage this team goes through in traveling alone! Add a flight across the Atlantic to get to the SEL, DEL ...etc & then back if there is a season.

So basically taking 1 row of seats from each side to move Finnish Ice. 2 rows from each for International. 1 row of seats either side wouldn't be the end of the world - old row 2 just becomes row 1 as it is next to the glass. Would the owners be prepared to lose a few seats?

I was to begin with, but then I realized that they just have to make the top 8 in the west. By the time the playoffs roll around, the players will be in peak condition. Hopefully healthier than other seasons as well.

Our players have played more games than anyone in the last few years. Most of them need time to rest and heal, this break is perfect for our team. Also, them staying at home and practicing together shows that they are a solid unit that believes and trusts in eachother.
