You don't trade the #1 95 kid in the draft who would've been the first overall pick if they didn't refuse to join Barrie. Nick is a stud in all ways and really only needs to learn to stay out of the box. Running guys is gonna get him into penalty trouble and could cost points rather quickly and ultimately will get him a few suspensions as well. He's the better of the 2 Ritchie's and will be around an extra year due to his late birth year.

Really? I think Ekblad would have been picked first regardless.

Is there standing room available at the Peterborough Memorial Centre?

Nope, I personally know Dale and the Ritchie's and he was slated Barrie #1 guaranteed. I can't get into why Ritchie Sr. wouldn't allow it, but it was the right choice I can admit knowing what I know. Might've said too much already but those are the facts my friend.

Well I will take your word for it but I do not see any real logic in taking Ritchie over Ekblad, I mean no disrespect to Ritchie but having Ekblad as the ES player the team is guaranteed three years with him in the league.

As of now I would say Ekblad has been the better player. Ritchie had 39 points and was a -22, Ekblad had 29 points as a d-man and was a -5 as a 15 year old in the league.

It seems the exceptional player is almost guaranteed to go 1st overall and I don't remember hearing any talk of Ritchie at #1.

I think it's worth pointing out though that Ritchie is only 2 months older than Ekblad and is also assured of 3 years in the OHL, due to his December birthday.

Ritchie was slated to go number one before the Minor Midget year and throughout the whole season until Ekblad was granted exceptional status late before the draft. It's a tough pick really. It will be interesting to see which player hits their full potential.

so far he's what we expected. Tough grinding forward who isn't afraid to mix it up. Got into a fight in Oshawa with Brown. Probably should of chose as smaller opponent as his first fight but at least he stood in there. Hasn't scored yet but in saying that he's fighting for ice time with the vets.

Thanks, I watched him a few times in MM and thought he was a safe bet to be a solid role player in the league.

As Per source @OHLInsiders

Nick Ritchie left the game against the Otters having suffered a sore shoulder. He was taken out as a precaution. They will re-evaluate him in the morning. He should be okay though.

One thing that should be pointed out is that Ritchie plays on a team that is not very strong at all whereas Ekblad is clearly on a very strong team so it's easier to point on Barrie as opposed to the Petes. Having said that both players are doing well taking their situations into account.

Rumours from Windsor is that coach Mike Pelino is on thin ice sorry for the pun,and GM Dave Reid has spoken to at least 2 prospective coaches from Windsor not related to the Spitfires current coaching situation, one is a guy who used to play with Reid in Peterborough, the other I am trying to find out about

@PetesInsider reports Clark Seymour will be in the lineup tonight. Alan Quine is still a Game time Decision.

Hunter Racine of the Ottawa Junior Senators is the Rookie of the Month award winner. Racine has adjusted nicely to the Junior A game scoring six points (3G, 3A) in seven games and is currently tied for rookie league scoring. The speedy right winger is one of the reasons that the Ottawa Junior Senators are currently first in the Yzerman Division and ranked 13th in the country.

That's a load. Both Ekblad and Ritchie are very talented and would be worthy No. 1's. Wasn't an easy decision, but Ritchie never refused to report to Barrie. That's B.S. that Ritchie wouldn't come to Barrie. There is absolutely no truth to that. The Colts had a bigger need on the blue line and it's hard to pass up on a player who is being allowed to come in a year younger and is already 6'3, 207 pounds. Peterborough is a mess right now and in no way should Petes fans let this management group trade a young star like Ritchie.

So when is Reid hired on with the Knights? One of those healthy six figure do-nothing, no-responsibility jobs...

Did Dave Reid really have interest in Jim Hunter? I thought he was coaching Lancers female team?

He is coach of the lady lancers hockey team, but remember he coached Tecumseh to a Southern cup in JR B, played with Reid and Yzerman in Peterborough,in fact was Yzermans room mate, also a former asst coach with the Spits in the past

Just sell the team and get it over with.....hopefully ownership (not community based) could turn this team around

Would love to know who sits on the Petes board...there seems to be no accountability from the board members for the state of the team or its poor reputation..

Trade Analysis:

Although I may not like it, the deal in fact does work for both teams.

The way I see it, if your the Petes, you've just improved in your own end as well as gained some leadership.

You might say well Devlin isn't that great. Well he didn't like Windsor and in the end if you don't like where your playing your not going to perform. I think Devlin will be great as a Pete especially if he gets paired with a Seymour or Boland.

Schoenmakers provides some offensive leadership as well.

If they can keep pucks out of the net which I think they will be able to do better with Devlin and Giugovaz in net + score 2-3 or more goals a game which I think they can do as well with Ritchie, Tanus and Koekkoek They might be able to win some games.

Trevor Murphy Requested a trade home at the beginning of this season and got what he wanted, again if you don't like where your playing your not going to perform to your full potential.

If your the Windsor Spitfires, you've improved on Bateman a ton by adding Murphy plus you brought Murphy back home. Lorrentz should be able to add some scoring as well which is what the Spits need.

I still believe the Spit's core problem lies within their 94's. and I believe acquiring Murphy opens the exit door even more for Bateman.

Trade will help both teams. Good trade, my only complaint is that it goes against what the Petes should be doing, which is building for the next few years.

Brutal trade when you dont do your homework! How do you not check in on a players interests. Apparently Derek the Shoe isnt goin to report to the Petes. They may be able to flip him and recoup some value.
Another example of an organization headed in a downward spiral. smh
