Devils fans invading a NYR thread, why am I not surprised...

And Heatley and Bouchard on the block? Wow, how generous of you. Simply out of courtesy and not wanting to take steal such great players on great contracts away from Minn, I think NYR declines.

I'm sorry, this lockout has got me real ornery about anything hockey related. But OP let's be real here when thinking about player values and team needs...

Seriously. Every thread.

----

I wouldn't mind working something around Stepan and Koivu. But to say that guys like Granlund and a freaking 1st round pick are off the table for Stepan and/or McDonagh is laughable at best.

No, just the 2013 pick. I wouldn't want to miss out on a deeper draft than 2003.

That's still laughable. You don't request top players and hold out on a freaking draft pick. Sorry, but that's absurd.

He looks awful on the right side, mediocre at best. I'd want to keep Del Zotto on the left and move Staal to the right with Del Zotto. I think they could be a great pairing together like that.

For McDonagh, I agree. He's the type of player where "untouchables" need to become "touchables" if you want a realistic shot at him. That said, I'm not a big fan of Stepan. He's a decent 2nd line center, but I wouldn't trade a piece like Granlund for him. Probably the 1st, but definitely not Granlund.

And outside of the fact that he is from Minnesota, we don't have any need for Stepan with Koivu, Granlund and Brodziak centering our top 3 lines.

When the event took place 18 years ago and it is used for ammo in debates. Yes

Nothing wrong with celebrating a victory, but don't constantly bring it up when the other team has had a considerable amount since that year

God I hope you're not a Yankee fan, the only more serial violator of this than Montreal across NA sports. Bears 85 is the worst in pointing towards a single team greatness. Far worse than Rangers fans are about 94. That team had an epic feel about it even as somebody who isn't a fan of them it doesn't surprise me they are held with such regard by Rangers fans.

Stepan isn't on my untouchable list. He is definitely fair game for an upgrade.

not as untouchable as McD or hank but it would take a lot to pry him from us. step was a deal breaker for the nash deal why would we deal him here? it would have to be granlund+ to get stepan

Ammo in debates is a different story.

But you we're talking about playing re-runs on our own station and retiring the numbers of 4 of our all-time greatest players. I don't see where that's funny. We're not talking about scrubs here either. Leetch is the #1 player in franchise history. Richter is our all-time winningest goalie. Messier is Messier. Graves was a saint in the community.

Dear HF, the Rangers are now a cup contender (you guys even voted for them to hypothetically win it)

Why would they trade their top six forwards, and top four defensemen for picks?
