With the lockout continuing it seems that it would be interesting to see the impact of the danish contingent of players in Finland. Nichlas Hardt "broke the ice" playing for Tappara in 2007-2008 and this year the floodgates have opened.
To what degree have the danish players contributed to their respective teams offensively, defensively or in other respects?
Nichlas Hardt - Jokerit: 1G 1A in 5 games -3 statistics.
- sadly injured again after just coming back from a knee injury.
Simon Nielsen - Lukko: 3,04 GAA; 0,888 S% in 7 games.
- some regression from last year (S% 0,905)
Frans Nielsen - Lukko: 1G 13A in 14 games +7 statistics
- lots of assists, less luck in shootouts and scoring goals before last night.
Mikkel Bødker - Lukko: 11G 5A in 16 games +8 statistics
- great offensive chemistry with Frans Nielsen.
Philip Larsen - Lukko: 4G 4A in 14 games +8 statistics
- plays most minutes for Lukko almost every match, (more goals than E. Karlsson).
(In Lukko injured Pesonen with +4 statistics, Riska with +2 and Elo with +1 are the only other Lukko players with a + statistics).
Jannik Hansen - Tappara: 1G 3A in 4 games +2 statistics
- great start, but no points last two games
Lars Eller - JYP: 2G 0A in 1 games +1 statistics.
- also shootout winner.
Then we still wait to hear from either Lukko and/or Peter Regin.......what's happening??

I think you just cloned Frans Nielsen and Lars Eller into a "supermonster" of a hockey player!

Nope: Time ran out. Well he stayed at "only" 1 assist tonight, but better than Jannik Hansen that leaves a game pointless for the third match in a row.
I've been very positively surprised the way danes have had an impact in Finland's hockey. Danes are good all-round players with very few weaknesses. Are there actually any danish NHL-player who is not playing in Finland?

Peter Regin is the last and he has been rumoured for Lukko the last couple of weeks, but we are all still waiting.
Otherwise there is 3 danes in AHL (goalie-giant Frederik Andersen and the 2 Lauridsen brothers, Markus and - also a giant - Oliver, on defence) but they are not on lockout. So SM-liiga has basically aquired most of the danish talent available (Nicklas Jensen as really the only "star"-exception).
I think it's the swedish hockey education that have turned many danish players into responsible two-way forwards. They are really fitting for any NHL 3'rd line to begin with. They will rarely be a top6-or-bust. The danish league is very forward minded (and somewhat defensively weak) so when a young promising player comes to Sweden he can also learn the defensive aspect of the game.
5 out of 6 danish NHL'ers are forwards and Philip Larsen is an offensive defender. That is no coincidence in my oppinion. Apparently the class of 1995 should start to bring more good d-men prospects for Denmark.
Funny enough the Swiss situation is reverse. Of their NHL'ers they have 1 goalie, 5 defenders and just recently got some young forwards pushing for NHL rosters (Brunner, Bärtschi and Niederreiter).
As for the lockout refugees, they've been good all around. Especially Mikkel Bödker, what a beast!

In the Swiss league the two attacking lines are almost always stacked with foreign forwards. They've got money but numbers of juniors isn't that high.
Danish players are usually actually not soft at all. Lauridsen brothers are tough, Oliver espescially, plays an enforcer role in AHL. Eller and Boedker are not soft at all, Hansen is a tough guy. Hardt is a physical guy for sure too.
and Eller and Hansen are still pointless tonight.....quite depressing
Edit: Hansen got an assist on Tappara's goal....he can't let Barkov and Nieminen do all the work.
Anyways thats one honeybadger that refuses to hibernate, but he was getting sleepy with no points last 3 matches.

With the sub-sonic noices of windmills, only one that never lived close to a windmill would feel homesick. I'm certain the danes will manage to "speed over the ice" without added windpower
They just have to adapt to your hydropower!
So another game for Hansen-Barkov-Nieminen as the only dane in action tonight.
Well there is a windmill on a private farm in Eurajoki (about 15km from Rauma) and a bigger concentration of those in Meri-Pori (~60km). No need to fear that all of em would feel homesick, atleast the ones in Lukko - which is all that matters anyways!

Haha. Lukko is completely dependent on the Danish players at the moment. If and when the lockout ends it seems that they'll be fighting to avoid last place. Bødker is pretty much the only one who scores consistently on that team. Great player.
