But it's hers, and Charles' understanding that dressing last night cost him a year of eligibility.
Interesting.

Wouldn't surprise me to see him start against us tonight and stonewall us like he's been doing the last 3 years at STU in that case. :p

Yes.

Cam Braes was back on the D.

Denny didn't play that much. He was involved in a scrum at the Moncton bench towards the end of the game where he manhandled two Aigles players.

Note - UNB were down 5-3 three times in the second! A couple of dumb penalties too.

Thats the first time Ive seen UNB wear the Newer Black Jerseys with Black Helmets and Shorts, usually when they wear those jerseys they wear red helmets and Red Shorts. I really liked the All Black Uniform wish they were permanent and their could be a newer home Jersey. Their regular Home Jerseys are starting to show their age

Senior hockey is big on the Rock. Former CIS players, such as Luke Gallant, Wes Welcher (STU) also play in that league.

They had Braes back there even with Desnoyers/Shutron/Kidd/Wright/Robertson/Todd all playing? Or was he just playing the point on the PP?

Braes was playing the point on the power play. It was interesting to see Denny playing a few shifts up front. I suppose a bit of a change for their opponents when Chad is coming at them instead of Salituro.

The bit of good luck for UNB this weekend was that Lavigne's senior team in NF had a bye weekend, so he was in town and available to suit up.

Foyle, had Lavigne intended to play for only one year, even though he had 2 years remaining of eligibility? Why else would they have used him as a backup on Friday night?

Yes - I believe that was the plan.

Charles is a solid student, so his plan was two years. This way Gardiner only needs to find one stud goalie who Charles can mentor next season then a new stud the following year (this provides the team with a 1 year stagger).

Yes. He only plans to spend one more year in grad school, and since UNB had two starting goalies this year he planned all along to play next season only.

UNB / Russia Commemorative Coin

This a shameless plug for a coin I designed to commemorative the up coming Pete Kelly Challenge Cup UNB/Russia Red Stars series.

The coin is lead-free zinc processed to look like antique gold with colour inset on both sides (as pictured).

The coin is $8 (local pickup) or $10 (mailed)

The coins are in the process of being made and will be ready for local pickup on Dec. 22nd.

eBay link has more info http://www.ebay.ca/itm/261135197731

This is a fundraiser for UNB Hockey

With Wright missing last nights game, and Kidd going down with an injury, I wouldn't be surprised to see UNB make a hard push to bring in another d-man for the second half. I think they need another quality body back there not only for the depth, but because I find they still struggle for stretches getting the puck out of the zone....still too much running around going on. I don't know how many times in the last few weeks I have noticed an opposing player being wide open in front of the net with no UNB defender close to him, or even aware they are there...fortunately they haven't got burned yet though.

27 December, at West Point, New-York
Red Stars vs. West Point Military Academy (NCAA-D1 Atlantic Hockey)

28 December, at New Heaven, Connecticut
Red Stars Yale University (NCAA-D1 ECAC)

30 December, at St John, Canada
Red Stars New Brunswick University (CIS AUS)

31 December, at Fredericton, Canada
Red Stars New Brunswick University (CIS AUS)

2 January, at Providence, Rhode Island

Funny that I am taking it for granted that UNB will add another player before the second half. Nothing is guaranteed though.

I noticed that Tam has played very little for his ECHL team. Would be nice to get him on board.

Tam has been recalled by Worcester and has been probably San Fransisco's best d-man.

I guess that is why he didn't play that many games for San Fran.

Thanks for the correction.

Wouldn't he be ineligible since he played AHL this year?

To generalize:

If he is under 21 years of age on Jan 1 he can play CIS without missing any time. The rules allow for a player to try minor pro up till Dec 31 without penalty.

UNB vs Russia Jersey

Here is a link to a story on UNB adopting a special Team Canada throw-back jersey for the UNB/Russia series.
