Saw Ben Marshall live tonight. He got some time on the PK and PP; lived up to reports of him being a good puck mover but undersized and easily pushed around in his own end. UVM doesn't have much size or skill up front either, so he wasn't facing much of a challenge. Definitely a long shot at the NHL in my opinion unless he can really bulk up.
Jokerit lost 1-5 In Jyväskylä to JYP. No points for Pulkkinen but reportedly he played very well and was clearly the best Jokerit forward out there. Jokerit were playing without Ilari Filppula (rested as a precaution) which meant another new line for Pulu, he played with Tyrväinen and Markus Hännikäinen. He could have apparently picked up a couple of assists if those guys had any finishing ability(Tyrväinen missed on an empty net).
...sounds like Pulk's problems are not entirely his own, playing on a suspect team with two revolving doors for linemates is not conducive to success.
"Suspect team" being one of the favorites for title but with a record number of injuries, earlier this week the stats were at 198 mangames lost, about 8-9 players MIA per game. Practically all the centers are injured and they had 12 players born in the 90's in the lineup today. He'd modt likely play with either Val Filppula or Ben Eaves if all were healthy.
Assist for Pulkkinen tonight and a rather good game in general as well. He's starting to look better now, it's just too bad the team is suffering from injuries up front. Otherwise he would have a couple of more assists since his current center isn't very good at scoring(although it was his goal for which Pulu got his assist tonight, no way he could have missed that one). Still waiting for Pulkkinen to start scoring himself, now he's mostly setting up plays.
I cannot thank you Europeans enough for posting these highlight videos and the exact time to watch them. So thank you times a thousand!
Pulkkinen's skating has improved so much since last years WJC, I believe he took it the wrong way when the Wings staff told him to put on weight. He thought burgers and fries when they actually meant legs and tri's.
