Tavares, Hamonic, and Nielsen. Can't replace the top-end scoring and center in Tavares, cannot trade the most defensively sound and big defenseman in Hamonic, and cannot replace Nielsen's ability to hold a line together (secondary scoring lives and dies with Nielsen's line), his defensive responsibility, and for a team as low on wins as the Islanders it probably isn't a good idea to trade the shoot-out king when you need every win you can get.

Everyone else is expendable, and Nielsen would be too if not for a total lack of centers on the team.

Johnson(under GMGS)
Hejduk

Some of these lists are ridiculous most players could be worked into a trade that would be fair for both sides.

Toews
Kane
Keith
Seabrook
Hossa

That is all. Bolland and Sharp would obviously be players who the team would be very reluctant to trade, but to call them untouchable is an insult to the word untouchable.

Some of the players listed by others are kinda ridiculous.

All players can be traded for a price, some however have big inflated prices:

Carey Price
Max Pacioretty
P.K. Subban
Alex Galchenyuk
Jarred Tinordi
Nathan Beaulieu

Besides the obvious Weber and Rinne, Legwand, Erat and Fisher are three players that are unlikely to move for sentimental reasons.

Note how I said "unlikely."

Hab management seems to be valuable him considerably. After the McDonagh disaster, I very much doubt they move him, barring unrealistic overpayment.

Perhaps it would make more sense if this thread were titled 'the players your team that are the least likely to be traded', because I'm fairly certain that most of these lists are treating it that way.

For Montreal, literally only Price.
Of course Subban/Pac/Gally are extremely valued but Price can't be replaced as easily I'd say.

With the probable exception of Subban....according to his next contract.
If he show he is willing to stay in Montreal long term at a reasonable contract, then i would allow him a NTC anyway

Then i would try to get his brothers on the team!

For Vancouver, the only untouchable really is Luongo.
I have to admit you are relentless.

Luongo is not an untouchable FFS.

I would add Mike Richards. He is a Dean Lombardi player more than any other in the whole league.

I truly see John Tavares as close to untouchable as anybody else in th league, at least under Garth Snow. I know he still hasn't hit the PPG mark yet but his loyalty and dedication to the organization makes him that much more valued to the Isladers.

Unlikely:
Hamonic
Martin

Prospects:
Strome
Nelson
Reinhart

Untouchables:
Henrik Sedin
Daniel Sedin
Dan Hamhuis

Not likely to trade or would require overpayment:
Alex Burrows
Ryan Kesler
Alex Edler
Kevin Bieksa
Jannik Hansen
Cory Schneider

Prospects that aren't going to be traded:
Nicklas Jensen
Zack Kassian

We have our team where we want it for the most part right now and I don't see us moving many pieces unless we get a great deal.

I dislike seeing lists with half of a team on them, so:

Untouchable (In order)
Brent Burns
Marc-Edouard Vlasic

"Very Unilkely"
Joe Thornton
Logan Couture
Joe Pavelski
Patrick Marleau
Jason Demers

Burns and Vlasic are my only true untouchables. Burns is the young, all-around #1D we desperately needed with Boyle declining. Vlasic is the type of player that is worth a million times more to the team who has him than he'd fetch in a trade.

Thornton and Marleau will probably not be traded as they have roots in SJ (wives, kids, etc) and NMCs. The only way I trade Thornton or Pavelski is if either they request a trade, they intimate that they aren't interested in re-signing in SJ after their contracts are up in Summer 2014 (I have a weird feeling Pavs won't, hope I'm wrong), or we have a chance to send them to a contender for a great futures package. Marleau, I'd trade if we got a really good return, but honestly, I don't think he'd ever waive his NMC. Couture I'd only trade if we were getting a better young forward than Couture in return. I'd be very hesitant to move Demers because I believe his upside is through the roof and he wouldn't get good value after the season he just had.

Boyle has been supplanted by Burns, I'd trade him for reasonable return. I'd trade Clowe for a younger 2nd line forward or a really good top-6 prospect. I don't think Havlat will be moved because he's a great fit and not in high demand, but I wouldn't be opposed to moving him. Murray should be gone for picks. Stuart won't waive. Niemi might be gone when Alex Stalock is ready, which could be as soon as next year.

As for prospects, there's no untouchables, but you'd be hard pressed to get me to move Tomas Hertl. I love watching him play and I'm really high on Hertl, as I'm sure SJ management is. Anyone else is potentially available.

I think that's all.

For Montreal i would say Patrick Roy is the definition of a player a team should not trade.

why ? Why? WHY?
