It looks more and more like 12-13 will not happen.
Looking ahead, PC has to either re-up HORTON or look to replace him somehow, guessing he stays at a slight raise, 5.5 per. Tuukka RASK will either sign another short term deal at 3.5 again or he'll want 5.0 on a longer term. Tim THOMAS' 5 per comes off the books so depending on the cap ceiling there might be enough $$$ to re-sign both HORTON and RASK. Depending on how guys like HAMILTON, CROSS, KRUG etc are developing, and again the projected cap ceiling, Andrew FERENCE may not be back. That said I think management will try hard to re-sign him. If any of Jared KNIGHT, Ryan SPOONER or Alexander KHOKHLACHEV show they are ready for prime time, Rich PEVERLEY becomes trade bait. Unless Jordan CARON picks up his AHL game, he may start to fall down the depth chart, he should be putting up bigger numbers on that level. There may also be a situation whereupon SEGUIN dis-lodges KREJCI for a spot as a top two Centre. If that happens, I wouldn't be surprised to see KREJCI traded for a less expensive winger or depth on D.
Horton, Rask, and Ference re-signed. Horton likely for a 1 or 2 year deal on a small raise. Rask either signs the same/similar contract for a year or goes higher for longer, as you said. Ference more than likely won't get a huge raise and probably won't complain about it either. A couple hundred K's, most likely. Not sure what to speculate about the years.
Knight/Spooner/MacDermid/Bourque all contenders for that 3rd line LW spot with Caron. Could snag Paille or Thornton's spot if they play well, too.
Potentially swap Hamilton/McQuaid.
Subban won't be ready for a while. He's got the potential to be great, but Khudobin followed by Svedberg are more NHL ready. The worst thing we could do to Subban is rush him.
