We won't get much for either as it is a case they hold more value to us than they are worth. Lupul would get you something at the deadline as a rental I.E late first, B prospects, etc which is fine if were planning on having JVR be our top line winger with Kessel.

Nashville would be an interesting although I would target Colin Wilson. American kid who needs a chance. Could look nice with Kessel and JVR.

Since Grabovski is signed to a brand new 5 year contract shouldn't his value be worth a little more since he wouldn't be a rental player.

No, because it's a bad contract. Negative value.

If Toronto wanted to sell both Grabovski and Lupul, I think they would do best to seek out separate trades for each. I think it would be difficult to find a team that is in the playoffs that also has a need for 2 top-6 forwards and also the cap space to absorb them, and is willing to pay the huge price that Toronto would expect for such a package.

Each individually would fetch a good price from a number of teams I would expect.

Kadri - Bozak - Frattin
McClement - Steckel - Brown

Lucic - Bergeron - Seguin
Lupul - Grabovski - Horton
Marchand - Kelly - Caron
Paille - Campbell - Thornton

Boston gets a suitable replacement for Krejci, letting Bergeron (or Seguin) take over the 1 job. They get massive depth on the wings especially if Horton is re-signed (I didn't look at cap though so maybe it wouldn't work).

Toronto gets not a #1 center but a center that can play top line duty efficiently which IMO is more important. Bozak drops to the third with the kids (Kadri and Frattin) to do sheltered scoring. Peverley plays #2 center with Kulemin and MacArthur who have chemistry.

I dunno, I personally like it but I'm sure fans of both teams will be sending flames my way.
I am pretty sure that is a huge no thanks on Boston's part. Toronto would have to come up with something that Boston wanted in order for them to make a deal. Krejci is the best player out of these guys and what need does this fill for Boston?

There is no way Boston is going to downgrade just to get whatever is thrown in to balance it out.

I'll let the rest of the posters on this board judge you and your proposal. I think it speaks for itself.

I have little-to-no interest in trading either one to be frank. All these low-balled offers that other fans seem to think are fair are nowhere close. Grabo is the furthest thing from a rental, and is our best centre, and Lupul has tremendous offensive chemistry with Kessel, and I doubt he'd want to leave Toronto, a team that gave him a chance and may have revived/improved his top potential.

Grabovski

58.7 points per game 2 seasons ago
56.6 points per game last season

Thats including Kulemin taking a nose dive from 30 goals to 7 goals between those two seasons.

Grabo is more of a 60 pt C than a 50 pt C.

Lupul

2011-2012 1.0 ppg
2010-2011 0.6 ppg [Began playing after coming off losing over 20lbs of muscle]
2009-2010 0.5 ppg [Worst injury hit, then got infection]
2008-2009 0.6 ppg [Injuries began]
2007-2008 0.8 ppg

On pace...
Lupul was a 40 pt guy once, a 50 pt guy twice, a 65 pt guy once and an 80 pt guy once

So to expect Lupul of being at 50 pts is pretty low.

Assuming Lupul has a repeat of last year; first and another prospect not named Jensen or Schneider. Or if Toronto wants Schneider, they add to Lupul.

Grabovski would be at least a 2nd line center on most of the teams, and his cap-hit is decent. Underrated 2 way center.

If it was possible I'd make a trade to get him, without any doubt.

So if Lupul is a top 10 scoring winger again, then we have to add to get Schneider?

But Bertuzzi has amazing shootout skills. Toronto would have to add.

As Vankiller pointed out. He's a rental, whereas Schneider is arguably the best goalie prospect in the league and signed for three more years to a relatively cheap contract. So, yeah, you better believe you're adding.

If Lupul is top 10 in scoring, the rental thing won't be a problem.....we'll probably just resign him.

When did Lupul ever score 80 points? Last season was his high and that was 67 points.

Missed that...thanks.

Still doesn't really change the player he is...50/60 point player with one season exceptionally better than the rest. Until he can repeat last season, I am not sold on him as being the 'on pace' 80 point player he was last season.
