It's going to be so completely wrong, but I'll give it a go:

xxx-Kesler-Jensen
Sedin-Sedin-Kassian
Burrows-Gaunce-Hansen
xxx-Mallet-xxx
(Schroeder maybe?)

xxx-Garrison
Hamhuis-Tanev
xxx-Bieksa
(Corrado maybe?)

Schneider
Lack
(Cannata maybe?)

I've seen the thread from 5 years ago in the prospect forums. All it does is keep the same players and adds in your prospect pool. They were all wrong, so horribly, horribly wrong.

We'll miraculously win the 1st overall in a full year lockout, much to the disgust of any non-Canucks fan. MacKinnon will center our first line, put up 120 points a season with Kassian and Jensen on his wings.

We win the cup three times.

I think only these players will remain 5 years from now:

Jensen
Kassian

Edler
Garrison
Tanev
Corrado

Luongo/Schneider (whoever isn't traded)

I agree with this, but I'll still play along.

Burrows-Kesler-Kassian
Jensen-UFA-Hansen
Raymond-[trade fodder]-Weise
Mallet-Lapierre-Grenier

Hamhuis-Bieksa
Edler-Tanev
Garrison-Corrado

Schneider
Cannata

I really believe we'll be a team very much like Nashville was last year. There'll be some prospects we don't even have that will make the team.

So I'm assuming you don't see us make it back to the Finals then.

Always a huge turnover in 5 years.

06-07
Sedin - Sedin - Pyatt
Naslund - Morrison - Bulis
Cooke - Kesler - Linden
Burrows - Chouinard - Cowan
(Santala, Green, Smolinski)

Ohlund - Salo
Mitchell - Bieska
Krajicek - Fitzpatrick
(Sopel, Edler)

Luongo
Saborin

Top prospects: Bourdon, Edler, Reid (lol)
Nonis, AV

Prospects bust or die (RIP Bourdon), players who are supposed to retire as a Canuck move on, some regress alarmingly quick.

I'm still kicking myself we traded Grabner for Ballard, he'd be our 2nd line winger for years to come.

The large amount of turnover. I know there usually is a lot of turnover, but players like Burrows, Kesler, Hansen, Bieksa, Hamhuis are players that you don't get rid of unless your team severely under performs your expectations or something happens to them. Players like Bieksa, Hamhuis, Kesler and Burrows have signed long contracts with the team before and I have every reason to believe they'll do it again.

Kassian-Kesler-Perry
Sedin-Sedin-Burrows
Jensen-Gaunce-Hansen
Mallet-Lapierre-Weise

Garrison-Corrado
Hamhuis-Tanev
Edler-Bieksa

Schneider
Cannata

Players who will have contracts in 2016/17:
Burrows, Garrison, Luongo

Players I expect to stick for at least 1 more contract with the Canucks:
Sedins, Kesler, Bieksa, Hamhuis, Edler, Lapierre, Hansen

Players I'm trolling the board with:
Weise

I will be horribly wrong, but:

Jensen-XXXX-Kassian
Booth(32)-Schroeder(27)-Kesler(33)
XXXX-Gaunce-Hansen(31)
Sweatt-Lapierre(32)-Weise(29)
LaBate/Mallet

Edler(31)-Corrado
Garrison(32)-Tanev(27)
Hamhuis (34)-Connauton/Tommernes/McNally/McEneny

Schneider(31)
Lack(29)/Cannata

Really NFI on 1st line centre. Don't think a 33/34 year old Kesler will be up to it. Ages marked for the older ones.

The question is who will remain, considering the average age of our team and age of our core, i predict not many (2-3 players) considering most players dont stick on a team for that long and our team has already been together a long time.

5 years is a long time.

The only guys signed until then are Garrison and Luongo. I'd be surprised if they were both here, though. Sadly, it's looking like Luongo is going to sit this year and become untradeable.

I think the Sedins will have aged out. People don't seem to fully appreciate how much of a pounding they take. Holmstrom played until he was 39 though, so they may still be here.

If Gillis is still here, Vignault probably will be, too. I expect Gillis to remain aloof and persue his own ideas throughout. If he thinks up a plan for the playoffs, I bet it would work.

I'm sorry for not posting a roster. I don't follow junior hockey. The guys I expect to see in five years aren't even old enough for junior, yet.

Why is everyone assuming the Sedins will retire by age 37? I think they'd likely still be decent second line players, as their game doesn't rely on physicality or speed.

meh, $3M for 30 pts on the Isles last year?
soft and one-dimensional .... the 1st was the greater loss in that deal

yes, i would think odds are good theyre still here, if they still want to be in the nhl.
I think they could still be 50-60 pt players at that stage ...likely elite 2nd liners

Hard to call what is going to happen with the goaltending the next time hockey is played, let alone 5 years from now. I think the Sedin brothers and Kesler will still be around. As for the rest, I have no idea. There are too many variables between now and then.

This is a trick question. The answer is that there will be another lockout in 5 years, so there is no need for line combos.

With how they regressed this year, if that trend continues (like Naslunds regression did) and isn't just a one-off, they won't be that useful by the time they're 37/38.

I dont think Naslund's decline was that steep. He was still a decent 2nd line player when he retired at age 36.
