In real hockey, definitely. He'd be a middle to late 1st. He's got as much potential as anyone in the league, but you're probably gonna take proven young studs (Pietrangelo, Quick, Karlsson, etc...) over him. All of the older elite players (Lundqvist, Spezza, Hossa, Kovalchuk, etc...) would probably fall behind him.
It depends. If it's a 30 team fantasy draft but the goal is to be the best team right now (like in a single season of fantasy hockey), than no, I don't think he would be one of the first 30 players selected. If it's a re-draft of the entire league from scratch and the teams that result are going to be playing together for years to come, than yes, I think because of his age and upside, he would be one of the first 30 players drafted.
What's standard for fantasy hockey? Goals, assists, +/-, PPP...?
To clarify, I think he's talking about a hypothetical fantasy draft of NHL players. All current NHL players become free agents and go into a draft from all 30 teams. For example, Edmonton would get the 1st overall pick (for tradition's sake ) and take Crosby.
For the people that keep on asking like it's computer fantasy leagues, no it is as if you were the GM of a team and the whole league starts a draft with every player. IMo I feel that Ovy would drop to 10 for some reason. These would be 1st 4 though. And don't think that even Dats will go 1st round
took me awhile to figure out who RNH was lol. no i wouldnt take him. there are many better options then him. i think he will be a top 10 point scorer in the future but for right now, i wouldnt take him.
