The North Dakota - Notre Dame game today was intense. It was a great game of hockey. MacMillan picked up a goal while Kristo picked up an assist on that goal. They played on the same line, MacMillan was on the left wing, while Kristo was on the right.
MacMillan played a pretty solid game. He did have a few bad moments though. He looked fatigued early on in the game and he also had a turnover on the blue that resulted in a breakaway and a tripping penalty for MacMillan. He also picked up another tripping penalty. Apart from the slow start and the lack of discipline, I thought he was good. He finished all of his checks and created a ton of chances. MacMillan, along with Kristo and Knight had quite a few shifts were they dominated the offensive zone. He picked up his goal on a 2 on 1 with Kristo. Kristo made a nice feed and MacMillan buried it. MacMillan is becoming one of my favourite prospects. He finishing his checks and plays hard. He's also got some good hands and great vision. Very intriguing prospect.
Kristo also played a good game. I was really impressed with how hard he competed and how strong he was on the boards. He was hard to knock off the puck and worked the boards well. He showed off some great hands throughout the game too. He was really shifty and fast too. He picked up his only point off a 2 on 1 with MacMillan. He recognized the open space and jumped in the centre of the ice and made a great pass. Kristo had a ton of scoring chances. He had a few chances that he should have buried. He also had a his fair share of turnovers, including two in his own zone. Overall, he was very dangerous tonight and had times where he completely controlled the game.

Brisebois was a lot better than MAB though. Brisebois was actually good defensively despite the brain cramps. Bergeron is pretty much a PP specialist.
The point is neither belong in a top 4, they didn't call him "breezeby" because of his inpenetrable defensive abilities.

Well I'll take a chance on Timmins call as will I on the future of Beaulieu,he's barely begun his career 15 regular season AHL games.From what I've seen makes optimism in his lot prudent not pessimism,he's 19 yrs.old.Nobody expects Nathan to be Bobby Orr after a weekend or even after two and half yrs.in the AHL,but I'm willing to bet Beaulieu will play in the NHL by then.

Brisebois was a very good #3-4 who was forced into a top pair role because we didn't have anybody better at the time. He was a smart, skilled playeer but more in the current PMD mold, 15-20 years ago d-men had to be big and tough with a mean streak unless they were Ray Bourque or Paul Coffey. Guys like Derian Hatcher and Kyle Mclaren were good players who couldn't keep up with the current NHL pace.

He had superior positionning and understanding of the game. He's +1 overall in his career, playing on bad team, facing the other team's best players.
Our team right now would be a lot better with Brisebois is his prime, than with whoever will be on our 2nd pairing behind Gorges-Subban.

Saw that Dietz was a -6 last night Is there any word on when Thrower will be back? Last I heard he was day to day, started watching the Friday night game vs Bozon's team but the feed was really choppy.

I feel the same way every time I watch Anders Lee play,the NYI's have so many good centermen coming through their system.Lee is listed at 6'3" and 228 lbs.with talent to burn most defencemen,he can go through them or around them.I'd love to see Bergevin make a deal for Lee or Strome,with Tavares already leading the team they might be persuaded to trade for help on defence.Watching Minnesota against Vermont right now on the Score channel.Florida's Bugstad is playing,he's another center similar in size and talent to Anders Lee.

In his prime Brisebois was an average puck mover for the second pairing, ideally on a great team he's on the third pairing.
He was overhyped by fans because of his name and lack of better options.
Not sure where the overhype was....who thought he should be on the first pairing? Most might think he's one the 2nd and since we rarely had a great team in the past years.....well it answers your post. Funny to hear about the hype when he was probably the most hated Habs player of all time.....

Terrible defenseman don't play more than 500 games. I didn't like Brisebois, but in his prime he could legitimately be a number 4 dman and a pretty poor number 3.
All the francophones I was friends with had Ragers for this guy in the mid 90s.
He was a guy with a lot of charisma and had some top clutch games that built his reputation. I never liked him as a player, thought he was one of the proudest guy to wear that jersey in the last 15 years.

He wasn't just cracking our top-4 He was in our (yeah, weak) top-2 for most of his career. Want it or not, Brisebois was a good dman, but people who have trouble understanding hockey were only seeing his mistakes. The same way some people hated Hal Gill because he was slow and awkward. Good positionning is 75% of a dman job.
