The leafs in the top 10 would be pretty nice. For me, with the original position of 7th, I'd for sure take Lazar. Been to a bunch of Oil Kings games this year, he's pretty slick.
So basically we'd draft a second Kessel who plays left wing. Put a playmaking/power forward centre in the middle of those two and goals will be scored.

Lazar really hasn't impressed me actually. I struggle to see him being more than a 2B centre in the show. I could be way off however.
This is not even close the correct draft order. If the NHL uses the same equation they used for the 2005 draft then the Leafs would have the best odds at getting the #1 pick.
I'm not sure how the rest of the teams stack up in terms of odds, but the Leafs definitely have the most ping pong balls.

they would have 3 balls along with 4-6 other teams under the same system as last time but that doesn't mean they will use the same system.

LOL, and you think that guarantees we get first overall, do you?

assuming the draft was determined in a similar way to the last lockout draft the leafs would have the most balls but the draft would still be entirely up to chance. having improved odds is not the same as having guaranteed.
personally i would much rather finish 5th again and know the absolute worst pick we could get is 6th overall then have the draft determined by chance. it would be brutal to miss out on hockey only to get the 26th overall pick. i think i would actually break something.
no way in hell bettman lets us win the lottery, it will be columbus, you can bet anything you want on it. same fix that happened in the crosby draft to pittsburgh, one the struggling franchises that gary did not want to move.
Monahan imo is exactly what the Leafs need. Build your team around this kid and the future is as bright as it's ever been. Only thing to do now is hope for a top 4 pick, You hear all the talk about MacKinnon, Jones, and Barkov. But I would still probably take Monahan over any of them, not the popular choice but I think he's going to have the best career out of all of them when all is said and done.
Don't know if this has been done before, but it's a long lockout so I decided I'd try it. I ran a lottery simulation a while back and came up with a draft order which can be seen here. I decided that instead of coming up with a mock draft myself I would have the fans of each team vote on their pick. I'll post the collective results once every fanbase has voted.
Toronto has the #2 pick. Thus far only Nathan Mackinnon has been selected. Who do you think Toronto should draft?
But I don't know if it's been done with each fan-base voting on their selections yet. Kind of early on to do something like that though, as the players are only a few months into their draft year, with a lot of time to rise or fall from their current projections.

Yeah there are a ton of people mock drafting based on a simulated lottery order, but I haven't seen or heard one where it fanbase voted. It may be too early, but it's an alternative to having the same few discussion topics during the lockout.
