BTW, I don't expect any suspensions from Saturday's game...but Pelech will be getting a short vacation for his match penalty today. Should be 3 + 2 for repeat offender.

Shouldn't those have come down before today's game (if there had been any)?

Not always...the AHL has a rule that players cannot be suspended for games played on a day after a team's morning skate is held (there's an actual time written in their rule, I think it's 11am but I'm far from certain of that), so if there was a decision made after that deadline the suspensions wouldn't be announced publicly until later for the next game played. The team would be told beforehand about the pending suspension and could decide to have the player serve that suspension right away, but even if they have players healthy and not playing they could "stay" its implementation until after that day's game.
Had any player gotten a match penalty Saturday, which results in automatic suspension until the play is reviewed, they would have been considered suspended until the AHL informs the team the length of suspension or if the match penalty is rescinded which can (and frequently does) happen after a team holds its morning skate. That player would be immediately eligible.
The idea behind that is so no team gets caught having to play shorthanded. But the rule is worded so they could play with 17 skaters is they choose to.

He should get an award for sticking up for his teamates.

I don't know if you can see it on the videos, but he had an ear to ear smile on his face as he was being skated off, and he high-fived fans next to the tunnel on his way to the locker room.

Hahaha It's funny, I couldn't see it on the video but I still knew he was grinning like true psycho.
Edit X2...Link may not be dead, it might work for folks that don't click on T&G links very often. They have a limit on '"freebies"...
The link is not broken now.
It seems that Portland's coach stole a pizza from the DCU media dining room last year and there was that huge brawl after the game incident. That was a nasty brawl last year and the Sharks were definitely an intense team. I forgot that it was Portland in that game last season. It all makes sense now. Hopefully we will see fair fights Friday.
For a long time Ray Edwards, the Pirates head coach, denied taking the pizza. He has recently "confessed" that he did it. The funny thing is they would have given it to him if he'd asked.
