just to rehash what we were speaknig about in the last page of 5.0 real quick
everyone keeps saying the lockout would royally screw our chances of a great draft pick but when you really think about it, after the lockout we picked 5th and got carey lol, i mean we totaly lucked out but hey, it could happen again.

Yeah, but it's not likely to happen again. But anything could happen.
Vail needs to get it going again. Needs to rack the points. They know what his defensive game is and maybe just for that, I'd have him on my team....but I'm biased. Which then brings the points factor....
Whitesnake, if Vail ever makes the team, it's for his defensive prowess, not for his scoring ability IMO.
Same thing with Danault and Bournival(last year). Those guys are there to shutdown the stars, not score goals.

In a tournament like that, you need your players to be as versatile as you can find so that if there's an injury, players could take another role. Add to the fact that most players that even play a 4th line role at the WJC was probably amongst the top leaders in scoring and every member of the squad needs to rack the points.
And ESPECIALLY a player who was not really in the cards. Just a fine job will not cut it 'cause there were guys who were in the cards already who are also just doing a fine job. So they'll be ahead of him.

The lads hanging on the USA thread seem to think he stands a good chance.
Yes he's not tearing the OHL apart but he's playing on a very poor Windsor team, and he's leading them in scoring while still shutting down opponents' top lines on most nights.
The one aspect that could go against him is the fact that he went the CHL route, but plenty of guys on this year's USA team will be from the CHL.
Also, if there's one word that describes Brady Vail, it's Versatility.

If we get a other center in the next draft like Monahan, Lindholm, Mackinnon or Barkov, are you open to the idea of putting Gally on the wing? I know we didn't had a center like Galchenyuk in decade, but he played wing his entire life except in the OHL. With the lack of talent on the wing in our system, isn't it a waste to put a guy like Gally, Barkov or Monahan on a second line? They would play with average wingers and they would not put number like they could on a 1st line. A 1st line made of Pac - Monahan/Barkov - Gally would be sick to watch. And you have the possibility to put back the center on the second line. I'm huge fan of Galchenyuk and I WANT to see him centering our first line but I'm open to see him on the wing if we have a better option or combination.

If we get Barkov then absolutely Galchenyuk should be on the wing.
