Also, one question if any of you know. Does moving within already existing competition area not require any special permission? i.e. since MSG is so close to Nassau already, moving to another spot within this zone is okay.

It is interesting to think what happened in the past. Was there an existing deal? How was the deal worded? If it was worded without a specific mention of the NYR competition area then you may be able to state that the team could move within any competition area (i.e. Toronto). Not that it is happening, just curious - as this is the reason we've heard for so long about no extra Toronto team.

They probably already paid the initial encroaching in NYR's area fee and they don't have to pay again.

Yes, that is my thought as well, but they may have played it a lot more loose 40 years ago.

Kule with a power play goal.

Poni was on the opposing team, Donbass Donetsk. He had a fab day, 4 primary assists.

Looks like the Flames prospect pool isn't as pathetic as everyone was suggesting.

Horak and Baertschi both over PPG so far this AHL season.

Horak very solid, Baertschi sensational... But two guys does not a "pool" make.

That said, I thought they had a pretty good draft this summer, so there's a chance things are finally turning around.

Oh, they have other players, just these two are showing they are at the top of their list and aren't taking a back seat to anyone right now.

They have the smurf Gaudrea at Boston College.
Markus Granlund younger brother of the Wild's highly rated Granlund who had a very good year as an 18 year old in Finland.
Max Reinhart who like Kadri isn't putting up points in the AHL right now. TJ Brodie, Aliu, ...

We just don't focus on other teams' prospects like we do the Leafs.

Interestingly enough, the Flames used Horak last year as a 4th. line Center in the NHL and the comments about him were how smart he is on the ice. They gave him an opportunity to grow in the NHL but only a little over 10 minutes a game. It does not look like that stunted his development as he's scored 6 goals in 6 games to start the AHL season. We often have the debate about few minutes in the NHL versus lots of minutes in the AHL.

Horak and two 2nd. round picks they got for Erixon. Erixxon wanted to play in NY, and now he's Columbus property. Karma.

Nice to see Kulemin with 23gp 8g 8a 16pts +11, was hoping for a little more production since he has Malkin on his line, but a team high of +11 (5 higher than next forward, 2 higher than next player) is nice. Also 3rd highest in TOI among forwards with 19:05.

Grabovski: 19gp 8g 7a 15p +2 (tied for 4th among forwards) and averaging 19:39 is good.

Many of the highlights I`ve seen has shown him in front of the net without getting any points on goals. That`s probably why the high +/-.

He was a player I would have liked on the Leafs and now he could be going through a career ending affliction.

22 year old Jordan Eberle with 4 goals and an assist moves to the top of the scoring race.

Actually he's tied with his 22 year old teammate Schultz.

NHL lock-out might make this a worthwhile tournament to watch ... not that it isn't already as hockey is hockey and even a peewee game is worthy.

Quote:
Here is a very brief, top line look at the teams:

Canada

Without a doubt, the best team Canada has ever sent to the Spengler Cup. Locked out players Tyler Seguin (Boston, playing in Biel), John Tavares (NYI – Bern), and Jason Spezza (Ottawa – Rapperswil) are all enjoying good seasons in the Swiss NLA and give Canada more offensive options than the team has had in years. On the blue line, locked out players Carlo Colaiacovo (Detroit) and Cam Barker (Edmonton – playing in AHL this season with Texas) make their way over from North America to boost a seasoned Swiss NLA contingent that features Travis Roche (Bern) and Micki Dupont (Kloten). San Jose's Jason Demers is playing in Finland and has also joined Canada for the tournament. This is all capped by the presence of locked out Edmonton left winger Ryan Smyth. There is barely a team with a Canadian flag on it that the veteran forward hasn't been named to – World Junior (1995), 8 World Championships, two Olympic Games and one World Cup. If there is a player worthy of being billed as “Captain Canada,” it's Smyth.

HC Davos

The host club are also the defending champions. They're not having a great season in the Swiss NLA – ...

Fribourg

This is the top team in the Swiss league right now. They are led offensively by ...

Vitkovice

This team is in ninth place in the 14 team Czech Extraliga and will be in tough this year. Of all the teams in the tournament, the Steel have probably benefitted least from the NHL lockout. ...

Salavat Yulaev Ufa

Any team from the KHL is going to be competitive. It's the second best pro league in the world, after all. ...

Mannheim

This team is the best in the German DEL right now - ...
Enjoy it. We may never see a Spengler Cup like this one again.

Canada rebounds from opening game overtime loss to win against the host Davos.

Ritchie made it 3-0 at 5:05 of the second, converting a setup pass from Josh Holden on an odd man rush for the short-handed goal. Ritchie scored again on a power play at 12:23.
34 year old Holden doing okay in Europe.

Caught part of today's game against Davos. That has the be one of the best looking arenas I've ever seen. Looked like an orchestra house.
