Unless ABA championships in the 70s count as recent, then the Nets haven't won any championships recently. They went to the finals in 02 and 03, but lost both times.
Shows you how much I follow basketball.
They still have some semblance of recent success compared to what the Islanders have done recently.

True. But they do have some stars they can market. But we're also talking about basketball — much more popular (especially in this area).
Watching the 08 Winter Classic and they just kissed Crosby's ass for like 3 minutes straight. It was bad.
I saw the one where Crosby was behind the play and the puck + all players were almost out of the zone and he was behind the net and tripped hank and the ref just lets it go like it was nothing and I watched the highlights of the 3-2 OT win a year ago that cemented the team's identity (Staal's SH goal to tie after a 1-0 lead turns into a 2-1 deficit in the last 3 minutes and Cally gets the OT winner). 10 PP for PIT and 0 for NYR. Henrik was pissed.
I love it when Henrik get's pissed I just can't imagine the guy getting aggressive and mean I'd love to get yelled at by Henrik....

Most emotional regular season game I've seen Rangers win IMO.
The reffing was just plain biased that game, no one can deny that the refs were protecting Sid and co.

To me the Hagelin suspension for 3 games and 1 for Carkner was the most biased anti-Ranger ******** I have ever seen. No conspiracy or anything, it was plain unjust punishment and the clearest example of bias you're gonna get.
And I will never forget that Pittsburgh comeback. Incredible and clearly another biased game.

I'll never forget the Chicago game where they had either 6 or 7 5 on 3's, and Drury tipped home Redden's shot in OT for the win. I believe Bill McCreary was one of the officials that game.

Renney almost went on to the ice in that game, if we're thinking of the same one.

I was ready to teleport into the tv and do the same lol. But yes I believe it was the same game because whether you liked or hated Renney he was a composed guy which is why I think this game stands out so much.

The Brooklyn Islanders will be a good team, especially if they can manage to acquire a goalie.
CENTERS
1. John Tavares
2. Ryan Strome
3. Frans Nielsen
4. Brock Nelson
5. Anders Lee
6. Casey Cizikas
That's a hell of a group of centers.
LEFT WINGS
1. Moulson
2. Nino
3. Josh Bailey
4. Matt Martin
5. Johan Persson or Mike Halmo
Very solid. If Nino develops well, could be great.
RIGHT WINGS
1. Kyle Okposo
2. Michael Grabner
3. David Ullstrom
4. Kirill Kabanov or Kirill Petrov or Rhett Rakhshani
Not great, but decent enough considering how good they are elsewhere.
DEFENSEMEN
1. Travis Hamonic
2. Griffin Reinhart
3. Andrew MacDonald
4. Matt Donovan
5. Ville Pokka
6. Scott Mayfield
7. Calvin de Haan
8. Milan Jurcina
9. Dyland Reese
10. Brenden Kichton or Aaron Ness or Andrey Pedan or Adam Pelech
11. Yuri Alexandrov or Robbie Russo or Marc Cantin or Mark Katic
Phenomenal depth, so much so that you can count on at least one or two suprises. They drafted 10 defensemen in rounds 3 or lower (plus 4 more guys drafted early) since 2009. While those prospects are not regarded as much today, there's a very decent possibility that one of them will become a good NHLer. That's not counting guys like Reinhart, De Haan, Mayfield and Pokka who were drafted early. I suspect this may blossom into one of the best defensive legions in the NHL.
GOALTENDING
Pretty terrible. Neither Kevin Poulin nor Anders Nilsson has the stuff to be a starter, much less a good starter. But if they can acquire someone decent (bring back Luongo?), the Islanders could be a tremendous team in 3 years or so. Just the opposite of the Devils, who have sung their final song last spring and will be going into the dark night for the foreseeable future.
