Yeah, really bummed. He brought tenacity and determination - I felt he had decent upside considering certain deficiencies on the Sabre wings. Hopefully it's not a career-limiting injury.

I'm really bummed about Tropp. This will hinder his development.

Definitely a tough break for Tropp. The situation was a great opportunity for him to continue developing his offense with good linemates. Also, I think this was the year to show he belonged and that he was a NHL player (once the CBA gets ironed out). Assuming Armia comes over next season, there could be a numbers pinch on RW with Poms, Stafford, Armia, and Kaleta on the big club--I don't think they'd bring Armia over to play in the AHL. More importantly, he should be able to get fully rehabbed and be 100% for training camp next season.

It will continue to happen as these fringe AHLers will target the NHL prospects.
RE: Tropp

I think Kevin O termed it a legal hit.

I don't see why a hip check to someone's knees should be anything but illegal.

Gauthier-Leduc injury was a knee injury coming in to training camp. He has started to practice again.

Apparently on WGR, Hamilton commented that he didn't really notice Gauthier-Leduc 'good or bad' Friday night.

Good job media.

EDIT: Not apparently. Actually did.

Jeremy White asked Paulie Nuts about how Gauthier-Leduc's play was, since he was very interested. Hamilton made the 'I didn't notice him good or bad' comment.

Embarrassing.

Yeah, the beat writers sure embarrass themselves when they come back from vacation or provide coverage on a secondary assignment (in this case Amerks).

Paul H should have had the roster being at that game and known which D were playing. Or he should have noticed Gauthier-Leduc looked 'good' in a business suit Friday night.

Yep, I was listening to the podcast this morning and almost spit my coffee out listening to it.

I don't know what's worse, White pimping him to Hamilton and asking him how he looked, not knowing he was hurt despite the pimpage....or Hamilton actually being at the game and not knowing that JGL wasn't even in the damn lineup. You would've thought if he didn't do his HW beforehand, he would've heard it when the announced scratches...or I don't know, while watching the game know which 6 dmen are playing and JGL isn't one of them.

From Rolston's post-game presser: Maxime Legault (UBI) day-to-day; will be re-evaluated later/tomorrow.

The Ennis injury is a shoulder and Hoppe says he should return next weekend:

If you're wondering, #Sabres center Tyler Ennis hurt his shoulder in Switzerland and will play next weekend. #Buffalo

FYI Ennis returned to the lineup on Tuesday, so you can scratch him off the injury list.

UBI for Hodgson:

No Cody Hodgson in #Amerks lineup tonight (upper body). #Sabres C has 1-9-10 in 1st 9 games. Apparently hurt in Adir game, struggled Friday.

Stevens said Hodgson's injury was a hand injury if I heard him correctly.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - #Amerks C Cody Hodgson, who couldn't play (LaxSabre: last night at Hamilton) had a splint on his right hand afterward. "Could be a week, could be two," Rolston said.

Just a quick Rochester Americans’ injury update following practice this morning:

Center Cody Hodgson (broken bone in his right hand) will be out “a couple weeks,” coach Ron Rolston said. Hodgson suffered the injury against the Phantoms on Oct. 27 and did play in Friday’s 3-2 shootout victory over Hamilton. But while he skated a regular shift (19:08 of ice time, but just one OT shift), he really was not effective and had just one shot on goal. Since his game is based on his creativity with the puck, and since the break limits what he can do, “a couple weeks” could definitely mean more than two.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - The break in Cody Hodgson's hand was caused by a slash from @Phantomshockey D-man Brandon Manning Oct. 27. "Two-hander" #Amerks center said.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - In #Amerks-Adir. Oct. 27 game referee Tom Chmielewski called nothing on Brandon Manning, apparently because Cody Hodgson shook hand in pain.

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - "A couple weeks" is what they're saying. 2 seems hopeful since his hands are his game. @dedario What's Hodgson's recovery time?

Sportsnet.ca Article - http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/ahl/2...and_two_weeks/

Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC - #Amerks coach Ron Rolston said rookie D Jerome Gauthier-Leduc to play sometime "in this next stretch of games...need to see what he can do."

I remember that sequence and Hodgson took a retaliatory elbow shortly thereafter when he didn't get the call. As for JGL, I believe he's been a healthy scratch for the last two weeks, so it's not surprising to hear Rolston wants to give him a game soon. Kevin O also noted that Varone's been ill and hasn't been practicing; he's questionable for this weekend's games:
Quote:
Kevin Oklobzija ‏@kevinoDandC
#Amerks C Phil Varone said illness kept him out of practice. Coach Ron Rolston said he isn't sure if Varone will play on the weekend.

So with Cody Hodgson (broken bone in right hand) out and Phil Varone questionable, Luke Adam moved from LW to center in #Amerks practice.

Speculation on Varone's absence by Kevin O:
Quote:
He was back at center on Friday because Cody Hodgson (broken hand) and Phil Varone (termed illness but I’m sensing it’s the injury that causes illness-like symptoms) couldn’t play.

#Amerks C Phil Varone was back at practice and will play in Wednesday's 10 a.m. game in Hamilton. Luke Adam is staying at center, though.

Sekera (cut hand; got stitches in a finger) was injured in Wednesday's game and has missed the last two Slovan games; meanwhile, Ehrhoff (head) left Friday's game after being boarded, but played today so I guess his absence was more of a precautionary measure.

Second concussion to Armia this season, now he has been sidelined indefinitely. It came when ex-NHL'er Ramzi Abid checked him straight to head. First there was no penalty but Abid was later suspended for four games.

Noticed this is not here though it happened a week ago.

Regarding Hodgson -

Kevin Oklobzija‏@kevinoDandC: "Today is day 22 since doctor immobilized hand/thumb"

I say that if he has a broken thumb he will be out until Christmas.

Also,

Kevin Oklobzija‏@kevinoDandC
No LW Zemgus Girgensons or D Matt MacKenzie in practice for the #Amerks. C Luke Adam in red "no contact" sweater. Just 19 skaters.
