Both sides share equal blame , but Bettman and the owners bully tactics aint gonna work anymore. Good for the players long term, ****ing horrible for the fans.
Decertification would be horrible for most of players. It would also probably cost the NHL a couple of franchises and a few others would have to be relocated. Any scenario where there is a contraction isn't a good one for players.

Ed Snider would start his own league if the NHL disbanded

5 years from now it would be worth it, get rid of **** markets and the Jody Shelley and Matt Walkers of the NHL, but the next few years destroys the NHL.

And this will show what Gary's true intentions are, if it ever gets to that level it proves he has no intentions on signing a new CBA

Go for it.

Not sure it would be horrible for "most" of the players, certainly the bottom end 4th liners and 5-6 defencemen would have issues. But a smart agent would ensure a player's individual contract would contain conditions that would hopefully, in the main, be as beneficial to his client as the current CBA allows. Its your latter points though that would see the NHL fight decertification tooth and nail, if it came to it.

I would like to see both Nashville and Tampa Bay survive.

Not sure how possible that is, though

Pretty sure franchises in both Winnipeg and Quebec would have trouble staying in business with decertification- these small population centers need the cost certainty brought about by the cap to survive (or at least they used to complain that they did).

There is only one bright side to this lockout. If we can have it go on a few more years - we won't have to pay Bryz another dime

J/k

Hell, I am resorting to watch Jagr's Kladno team from the czech republic online to get my hockey fix...

I can't believe we're going to be missing out on a opportunity for the league to market great winter classic venue and 24-7 this year. **** the NHL.

Holmgren is a dry drunk....he "likes" his team regardless of the blatant deficiencies. Having said this, he should be optimistic about Couts and B Schenn..they have done a good job down on the farm..

Meltzer's Musings: Zero Benefit to Lockout for Flyers

Holmgren will still "like" his team when he has to comply with a more stringent cap..

Quote:
As for the Flyers' outlook, well, they are losing money daily when they could have been reaping the financial benefits of what had been a boom period of growth both for the organization and the league. And when there is a new CBA in place, the rules will take steps to prevent them from doing business the way they want to do it.

Neither the owners nor the union gives a damn what is the interests of the fans. Never have and never will. But for fans who root for a team like the Flyers, it is especially galling that two-plus months (and counting) of the season have been lost and the entire season may be in jeopardy when it is designed to bring about a result that will not see the on-ice product improve and may weaken their favorite team's roster in the not-too-distant future.

It'll be fun when neither side wants to accept what the mediator suggests.

Carolina and Nashville should were both good for NHL and have great passionate fans... Neither deserves to lose there team

And without tight cap/CBA restrictions teams in Winnipeg/QC and a few others on your list are not viable longterm

Neither had a arena in works , No owners and both were losing tons of money

Neither was viable to be kept in Canada

NHL had to step in and save Edmonton/Calgary/Ottawa from similiar fates
