Montreal Impact Thread 12.0 - The "Un-Stickied" Edition

The other thread is over the 1000 post limit.

The next few months should be fun... New coach? New DP?

I count on you guys to keep this thread active if it remains un-stickied.

Huge off-season coming... new coach, a 2nd DP, new wingers.

I unstickied the Als and Impact threads during their off-seasons, mostly just to clean up a bit of the clutter at the top of the board. They'll be back up there when their respective seasons start up.

As always, you can address any complaints/concerns to overlords.

Nice responsibility (I'm kidding - don't ban )

I think that's fair. It got a little quiet and euro-centric lately. Can't wait for good news.

What's Napoli formation? Concina is the tactical assistant over there.

Could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure they use a 3 back. I've seen them use 3-4-3 several times bt I don't know if they always use that formation

I'm worried it's this again. I'm sick of NDS always interfering with the coaching staff. What's his ****ing credentials to have the right to do that?

My friend told me that Dejan Stankovic could be coming here. True?

NDS said they wanted to try that formation, that could explain why they are interested in Concina. I wouldn't hate to see that formation, but I'm not sure I'm a big fan of it either. Sure looks nice on paper to have Rivas, Nesta and Ferrari on the pitch at the same time, but what do we do with Camara, Brovksi and Valentin? Camara will end up starting most of the games at CB because Rivas and Nesta won't play all the games, Brovski can play CB so he would see plenty of time, but what about Valentin? Would he be used as a LWB/RWB? And who would be the other winger, Pisanu? Mapp can't do that and I don't want to see Arnaud or Nyassi as starters. Maybe we'll add a true #10 and Felipe can be LWB?

Di Vaio doesn't want to have Wenger up front with him, so maybe we could go to a 3-6-1 formation if such a thing exists or maybe go back to the 4-2-3-1. I guess we'll see.

They play 3-5-2 or 3-4-1-2, Hamsik plays mostly as an advanced play maker or as a 3rd forward behind the strikers. They've been playing with 3 at the back since I can remember (3 seasons at least). Which is the formation we could be looking for with Nesta/Ferrari/Rivas at the back and Camara very capable backup.

Valentin should be a fine option as a RM but we need a legit LM, someone fast and can cross the ball.

All we know is that Stankovic advised the MLS he'd like to play here and the MLS contacted the Impact to work out a deal. We don't know if the Impact are interested though, NDS confirmed there have been talks but there have been no updates for a while now. Personally I don't believe we're going to sign him.

Right now, we don't have a squad built to play 3-5-2, even though some utopists like to believe it. Like you said, we have an old CB and one that is always injured. We have little depth at the middle. We have no wingers and no depth up front.

Agreed with this. If we were to use the 3-5-2, then it would mean we would need a big upgrade in the midfield. If the Midfield isn't the strongest part of the team, then there won't be much success in winning games.

We have 2 DP spots with Felipe, Bernier and Camara down the middle, we would be fine IMO.

A 3-5-2 is definetely a formation we should consider for next season. I LOVED Felipe-Bernier as defensive central midfielders at the beggining of last seasons.

I was always skeptical of Camara playing midfield. But I have to admit when I saw him make the odd run up the field with the ball I loved it. The guy is a beast - just wish he would stay healthy.

If he says they are "So off", doesn't that imply that he made his choice?

Ughh looks unprofessional to me an owner that speaks this way towards the 'experts'. Anyway, that's just Saputo we've got to get used to it.

Concerning 3-5-2 formation vs a 4-2-3-1, I don't think we'd need more elements if we go with 3-5-2.

With 3-5-2 we need: LM, CM and a striker (either a 2nd striker to DV or a substitute to Wenger).

With 4-2-3-1 we need: RW, CM, LW upgrade if we can get rid of Mapp and maybe a LB.

However 4-2-3-1 gives us more flexibility. If we play 3-5-2 we dont really have much options on the right side if we decide to change formation.
