think about that, if the habs give plekanec and cole for a young and great foward like evander kane, they increase their chances to get a high pick in 2013, if there is a season.
that mean we should have paccioretty, galchenyuk, kane and that 2013 pick for a great futur.
I don't get the logic here. Trade Cole and Plekanec (2 proven top 6 forwards), for one top 6 forward. All assuming that Galchenyuk is going to be better than Plekanec down the line (I'm of course hoping he turns out better, but it's far from a guarantee and Pleks is a hell of a player).
It just doesn't seem like a great move to me. There's also that trading Plekanec guts this team up the middle. DD's line probably drops 7-10pts each without Plekanec taking the heavy matchups (Lars Eller is NOT ready for playing against Crosby, Malkin, Giroux, etc).
Montreal might already have another good top 6 in their line-up without giving anything in return. I'd rather give one more year to Lars Eller and Rene Bourque than give up Plekanec and/or Cole, plus other assets.
No that wont bring you a young top 6 winger! for what you are offering, instead of trying to get a loonie for 4 quarters why dont you wait a bit devellop your prospect and see how they turn out. You guys should get another top 10 pick, and if lucky even win the lottery, since we wont have a season
How about a first in 2013 for Jamie Benn and Jamie Oleksiak.

Do you think Jamie Benn can land a lottery pick in the 2013 draft? Not a chance. And we already have an Oleksiak in Tinordi so he is of no value to us.
Like I said if there is no season I do not do the trade. If there is a season Jamie benn centering cole and patches would give us a real top line. Montreal would not finish in the bottom5 and the first i think would be between 15th and 20th overall. I am glad you mentioned tinordi because he would be Oleksiak's partner on our shutdown pair.

Oh I misunderstood you. My fault.
Then I would simply not do this trade because the difference between Subban and Benn isn't DD Kristo and first in a great draft. And we have Galchenyuk already, why do we need Benn in the first place, we are more than fine with our center composition right now. Pacs-DD-Cole was one of the best first lines last year.
I really believe that in order to seriously compete for the cup we gotta get bigger stronger tougher etc. I love desharnais and what hes accomplished but size is one our key problems. Benn would give us more there and could also be used on the second line depending on the opponent and the line matchups. We are not a 27th place team and will return to the playoffs where we are already better equipped with the added toughness already brought in. plekanec, eller and maybe Galychuk if hes ready can center the top three lines. If were better off to have galynchuk serve one more jr. year Arnott would be perfect for one year on the third fourth line. If Benn was used as the left winger on the 2nd line to spread the attack then Plekanec, eller and Galychuk would center the three lines. If benn at center than those three slot down to 2nd,3rd,4th etc. This flexibility would be nice in keeping opponents guessing and sheltering the young rook.

Reason: to avoid confusion.

Actually I do, Jamie Benn is an excellent player, I think hes worth the 4th overall pick

That'd be great if there was any chance of Dallas trading Benn for Desharnais.
Benn and subban are the same age and oleksiak is younger than Desharnais so we are actually getting younger. The key for Dallas would be thinking that Montreal could fall as low as they did last year for a chance at a lottery pick but i dont think that is happening.
Again if there is no season and it is third overall i would not either, but if there is a season and we had benn slotted in were not finishing at the bottom.

Then why would they do the trade? By your own logic, it doesn't help them. And obviously when I say this I am talking solely about Benn for 2013 habs first and not the other parts of your deal which if we include is just beyond stupid.

There's no doubt Benn is an excellent player, none. But the 4th overall pick? Let's see. Mackinnon Jones Barkov Monahan Lindholm. I'd take any of those five guys over him easily, and It's fine if you think I'm talking potential over proven but at the very least 4 of those 5 guys will be franchise players. Benn's ceiling isn't quite as high.
Subban should make up the most of the valu for Benn, Desharnais either brings it even or slightly over, the first if a season was played would be 15-20th but other teams may think the potential exists for the habs to falter again. The habs would climb back with Benn, and Oleksiak and Tinordi as a pair would be formiddable.
I think i prefer to take a chance on that 2013 draft by trading pleck ( for another young foward ), with price, subban, pacc, dd, galchenyuk, gallagher and tinordi who will be our futur core team.
plekanec our first center, gallagher a young goal scorer who is probably our best prospect after galchenyuk, our 2 second choice in 2013 and maybe a good vet like Cole.
vs 1 of your top 3 foward.
I want a good and young foward to play with galchenyuk in the futur,
so tell me your offer.
