Cody Corbett. Defensemen playing with Michael St. Croix in Edmonton this year. He's just a solid player. Very little "wow factor" but he can skate well, move the puck, and isn't afraid to shoot either. Good size and can lay the body. Upside is a solid #4 d-man, IMO. I had him ranked as a possible late 3rd rounder due to some inconsistencies last year, but he slipped off the board entirely. Believe he was invited to the Wild's prospect camp earlier this year.
Myles Bell was already mentioned, but you have to love the kids skill set. Could be a Byfuglien-esque sort of player. Huge shot, loves to lay the body, and can play either wing or on the blue line. Much better skater than Byfuglien though. Also better at laying off the donuts.
JC Lipon is shredding the dub this year with Kamloops. Will definitely get drafted this time around after being passed over before.
I don't know much about any of these guys, but on a completely random note I drafted Myles Bell in my Rangers BAGM without knowing who he was at all, and he ended up being awesome out of the gate.
Probably the most talked-about undrafted Euro is Anton Slepyshev. He's an 18-year old playing for Novokuznetsk in the KHL. He's supposed to be very talented, but teams don't think he'll come over. He likely would have been an early-to-mid round pick otherwise.
Patrik Machac is a Czech player in the OHL with Brampton. He's small but skilled. Jeremy Boyce is a Swedish defenseman with Timra in the SEL. Mikko Lehtonen is a small Finnish defender with skill. Andrey Makarov plays in the WHL, he apparently has some upside. Makarov is probably the only one I mentioned that has a chance at getting a contract, be it an NHL ELC or AHL deal.

Totally forgot about Slepyshev!! Good player. Don't know who Machac and Lehtonen are and Makarov got signed by Buffalo about a few months ago. I would've definitely mentioned him if he wasn't taken. Swear to god I thought JC Lipon was with some organization, but i guess not. That is a player worth getting right now!!!!
For anyone curious, here are the stats for the guys we invited to prospect camp. There's normally even more names as we invite a couple additional guys to Traverse and training camp, but obviously that didn't happen this year.

aside from myles bell, who honestly going into this season i dont think anybody expected to be tearing it up like he is, this list is pretty unimpressive.
and i know gabe grunwald is sorta forced onto the team, but the kid has no talent. i've seen him play and he's really not good. he's a career ECHL player at best.
There were over 300 NCAA players in the NHL last season, so I wouldn't say its untapped, but I agree there are a handful of quality players that go undrafted each year.
Canadians and CHL folk can't stomach the fact the NCAA is on the rise. More NCAA players and products of the US development path in the league each year.
Do you have a source for that stat ? It seems a bit high...but...maybe it is right since a lot of Canadian kids head that route .

Personally I don't care where they come from as long as they have the skills and don't take shifts off they can play on my team . I don't see any difference between a kid from the USA and Canada when the skates get strapped on and they put a stick in their hands . Any GM that only drafts one or the other will have a short career without much success IMO in this new era .

Dane Fox is one of the best undrafted kids out there. Zaitsev is also interesting, as a relatively young guy having good success in the KHL. Two years in a row we've had him in camp.
If you signed Bell, Fox and Grosenick, that would be about the best haul of anyone in the league--on paper anyway. The list is unimpressive because there isn't an abundance of quality undrafted players out there.

You're right it doesn't matter where they come from.
But for a fan and supporter of the US development path its great to see. It shows the game is healthy at the "grass roots"level in the US. And the NCAA is growing in popularity.
NCAA hockey is a great product with the history to go with it.
He's an agitator like Avery, but he's also bigger and smarter. I think he'll start to fight more as he moves up the pro ranks and end up something like Steve Ott.

Bell switched to forward this year though, and he's tearing it up on the wing. I'm sure the car accident was a huge factor in why he wasn't drafted, but I was saying when I heard he was moving to the wing I didn't think he'd have nearly as much success there and I know some others didn't either. I was way off, this is probably his best year yet.

I totally agree. The Rangers are well under the contract limit, they should really think about making a few splashes into the college UFA pool although I think they had a good year last year in getting Jean and Hrivik and the year before they were able to bring in JAM.
Little deceiving because he's an overager. However, he's always had the skill. He's just never been able to consistently put it on display. I mean, the kid completely flatlined in the two years after he was drafted. Didn't get a deal from the Jackets, so some team will probably offer him an ATO after this season. Not to be "that guy" but I have to wonder how he felt about being drafted by Columbus.

I'm obviously biased since I'm a Quinnipiac alum, but perhaps Eric Hartzell? He's a goalie at QU who is putting up some really good numbers, and has good size at 6'4 190ish
Wasn't Andrej Sustr in a Rangers camp a while back. He's a big (6'8") defenseman at UNO and I've heard some nice things about him. Late bloomer.
I knew he sounded familiar. He was in camp last year (2011).

any David Clarkson type players as an UFA?? remember he was also an UFA and is a solid player although i hate the team he is on....i hope they give Fox a chance... maybe with the right coaching he can put it together.
