From Tim P. at CSN:

Title: Giroux says he's fine, getting tests as precaution

Quote:
He suffered a hit to the head last Friday playing in Germany for Eisbaren Berlin against Krefeld.

What was originally diagnosed as a “minor neck injury” could be worse, perhaps a concussion, though no one is actually saying that. Still, that can’t be ruled out of any head hit.

Giroux is on his way back to the United States and will undergo testing in Atlanta, according to Oliver Koch who reports on the Deutsche Eishockey Liga, via Broad Street Hockey.

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren told CSNPhilly.com that all he knows is that Giroux is returning for “evaluation and precaution” for what was “diagnosed” as a minor neck injury.

Ugh, not Ted Carrick again.

Just as background since we dealt with this with Crosby last year... Carrick is a hack. Crosby's camp eventually got pissed at him and cut off all contact. It's terrible that all these guys keep going to him. All it does is lend him more credence and delay their real treatment. There was even talk that Carrick exacerbated Crosby's condition.

So would this be the second concussion for Roo? In fact the second in a year?

He has had at least two prior concussions.

December 2011 when he was kneed inadvertently by Wayne Simmonds.

January 2009 when he was elbowed by Corey Perry.

Voracek didn't register any points in Lev's 7 -3 win over Lokomotiv, but if you want to see him being a dumbass, all in slow motion, watch the clip at around 2:10. I guess the team did score on the ensuing power play, though.

More than likely, the lines of communication are reduced because of the lockout. My guess is that it will be up to Giroux's representative or perhaps through the medical staff performing the tests to issue a statement. Sam @ the Inq. mentioned yesterday that he (Sam) was awaiting to hear from someone.

An update from today's earlier post:

Quote:
Claude Giroux getting treatment

Star center Claude Giroux of the Philadelphia Flyers has been in Atlanta for the past few days receiving treatment for a neck injury.

Giroux told ESPN.com on Wednesday that his treatments were going well. He suffered the injury Nov. 16 while playing for Berlin in the German league. He also underwent concussion tests.

Giroux has been getting treatment in Atlanta from Dr. Ted Carrick, who has worked with Sidney Crosby and Jonathan Toews.

Undergoing Treatment

Claude Giroux has been undergoing neck treatment in Atlanta, his agent, Pat Brisson, told CSNPhilly.com.

The treatments are being conducted at the Carrick Institute at Life University in Marietta, Ga.

The Flyers' center is under the care of noted neurologist Ted Carrick, who worked with Sidney Crosby for about a year, following Crosby's multiple concussions.

Carrick, whose specialty is chiropractic neurology, has also worked with NHL players Jonathan Toews and Guillaume Latendresse.

Giroux’s treatment began Monday. Brisson would not elaborate when asked for further details.

Giroux suffered a hit to the head two weeks ago playing in Germany for Eisbaren Berlin against Krefeld.

And here, friends, we see the silver lining of the season-ending lockout.

Take your time Claude. You've got 10 months.

Judging by the article, Pat Brisson is the one who tells his clients to go to Carrick. They must be friends or he must get a cut out of every visit.

Got to see Briere play in Ingolstadt yesterday (Berlin lost 2-4, Danny had an assist).
The irony of it all was that Ingolstadt uses Doop as their goal song.

Not sure about that. Players wanna play, that's why they sign overseas and eventually may get hurt. It even happens off the ice. While Giroux recovers during the lockout someone else will go down while playing a meaningless game. I 'd rather See them sacrificing their bodies against the Pens or Rangers!

Bryzgalov in net for CSKA. 2nd period right now.

Stream: http://www.thefirstrow.eu/watch/1570...ratislava.html

Edit: Just gave up a powerplay goal on a one timer from the bottom of the faceoff circle. Looked like it hit him and went in but I'd have to see another replay .

CSKA wins 4-1 with Bryz in net. I watched the second and third period and it didn't seem like he was tested very much. He made 13 saves on 14 shots. CSKA did a good job of defending in front of him and minimizing the other teams shots. The goal he allowed was one he probably could have stopped though. They also played the doop song after they scored their fourth goal.

Well, it's the guy who botched Crosby and apparently hasn't done so well with Toews. I'd prefer to see Giroux go to someone else.
