Happy Thanksgiving to you too!

It would be nice to go watch a hockey game this weekend. So, we're going up to Prescott tomorrow night to watch the Sundogs. Too bad the Coyotes aren't playing.

I'd like to think that we'll have something to be thankful for next week. But my experience over the past year has told me that if there is a way to screw things up, it will happen. And even if all goes well, there will be someone with a whack-a-mole proclivity that will pop up to get in the way again.

My plan B (to learn to play hockey just in case the team leaves, so that I can still get my fix) has gone well and I'll be on the ice tomorrow, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. I may not be a good player, but I am probably getting more ice time than some of the pros are these days. And I've learned that while it's nice to have NHL games to go to and a team to root for, it's really not all that hard to replace when that is no longer an option.

I got 5 quick picks. Would be fun to win and then make family and friends rich.

Just curious, why would the jackpot being $500 million affect your decision to play?

Perhaps I should've directed my question directly towards AP since he's the only one who specifically mentioned the $500 million part. What I'm trying to understand is why some people feel the need to buy a lottery ticket when the jackpot is high but not when it's normal. I don't understand the rationale I guess.

I will only buy 1 ticket when the jackpot gets insanely high, but I prefer to keep my money.

I do play the lotto even when the jackpot isn't that high but in moderation. If anything, I mention the jackpot just to be random in this thread and make some sort of conversation.

Also, the need for others to play while the jackpot is that high is because as the jackpot gets bigger so does the likelyhood someone will hit the jackout and it maybe them. More people play as the jackpot grows.

I only play the little local lotto. I have small dreams. Winning a million bucks that the government is kind enough to let me keep six hundred kay of is more than enough for me. Plenty.

I'm in on a pool with my fellow teachers. $4 each.

I never play on my own. And there is never a pool unless the jackpot is big. The idea is that if you have $500 million and split the cost of a bunch of tickets, if you won you would still all get a pretty good payoff for a low risk. Plus, you have more chances to win if you have a bunch of tickets.

If I'm playing on my own, I get to keep it all. But, I'm also only going to have a few chances to win.

That would be the rationale for me to play when it's a big jackpot but not a smaller one.

The thing is, unless you're a millionaire already even the normal jackpot will land you way more than enough money to drastically alter your financial landscape. So it seems to me you either play the lottery or you don't but the actual size of the pot should be considered irrelevant.

If someone here wins there should be a clause that you have to buy this team

I think I'd buy all the seats for one game and sit in the upper bowl, just to tick off the "no fans" crowd. It would be a sellout with one person there. Too bizarre?

So guys.. just wondering what your line-up is. Like I know the basis but would rather it be from you guys. Not a twisted plan for trade proposal thing though, don't worry

Are we assuming there will be a season?

If so, I fully expect Maloney to grab another center before games start.

Sooo...

Sullivan-Hanzal-Vrbata
Doan-Vermette-Boedker
Korpikoski-Gordon-Moss
Torres-Chipchura-Johnson
Bissonnette

OEL-Michalek
Yandle-Morris
Klesla-Schlemko
Summers

Smith
LaBarbera

......................

As I said, I do expect a center to be added (maybe Matt Lombardi, or someone like that?)

So...

Sullivan-Hanzal-Vrbata
Doan-Vermette-Boedker
Korpikoski-XXXXXXX-Moss
Torres-Gordon-Chipchura
Bissonnette/Johnson

OEL-Michalek
Yandle-Morris
Klesa-Schlemko
Summers

Smith
LaBarbera
