Barney isn't going to be anything more than a throw in on a deal. He's not going to fetch you top level prospects.

He'll fetch you someone decent though. He's not trash considering the positional scarcity.

I still feel like that's too much. Upton and Stanton have similar values.

Done as long as Stanton agrees to sign a long term deal.

Fine, make Miami throw in LoMo.

I will take Stanton over Upton every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Stanton has marginally more value. That's it. Both are among the top 50 most valuable major leaguers.

In Jonah Keri's rankings, he has Upton and 38 and Stanton at 7. The problem is, this is a tight knit group. So the difference of 21 spots, in terms of value, isn't a whole lot.

Oh, and Castro is 24 and Sale is 16.

Upton had a 3.3 WAR last year and a 107 OPS+
In 123 games, Stanton had a 5.8 WAR and a 158+ OPS!

Stanton had a .608 slugging percentage as a 22 year old! He lead the MLB in that category. He was 5th in wOBA and 3rd in OPS.

BJ Upton is good, but he's nowhere close to Stanton who is probably the 2nd best young player in the game after Trout.

I'm talking about Justin Upton.

Also, I would take Harper, McCutcheon, Posey, and Longoria before Stanton.

Not sold like Murray and Cullk are on Barney returning anything at all.

Only way I trade him is if someone really overpays with a SP prospect, and really a SP prospect only.

Cutch, Harper, Stanton, and Posey are all debatable, with no wrong answer with any of them.

Not Longoria, though. Too many injuries and a bit older than the rest of the pack at 27.

He'll return the same package as a setup man would.

In 2011, Upton was a 6.4 fWAR, 5 tool player. It was reported that Upton was wearing a pad on his thumb, which he had previously injured, in mid-August onward. He recorded his best numbers then that were in line with his 2011 season. Obviously he had problem with it all season, which kind of alleviates my concern with potentially acquiring him.

Chone Figgins got released. I'd give him a million bucks to be a placeholder at 3rd. I'm pretty firm on the price.

Keppinger would be a good pickup third base. I love these little signings that make the team a bit better little by little but I'm not gonna lie, you make enough of those and I start thinking, well, our division sucks, why not sign Hamilton and make a run at the playoffs. He's one of the most hated players, for whatever reason but the guy flat out rakes and should age well (at least .280/.340/.460 when past his prime). We probably will not do enough to warrant it, but Keppinger plus McCarthy plus Fujikawa, yeah, get it done at that point.

I wouldn't want that guy for the minimum, Luis Valbuena is better.

Meh, maybe we'll get lucky and he'll steal like 20 bases.

Had Stanton played 159 games like Upton did in 2011, he would have posted a 7.5 WAR.

Upton has been too up and down for me. He looked great in 09 and 11 but just ok in 10 and 12.

Once again, marginally better. Both would get high returns.

If Upton would return Andrus, then Stanton would return Andrus and someone else like Martin Perez. Not saying this would happen, but just using it for example's purpose. It's not like Stanton would return Andrus, Perez, Moreland and Olt.

Like if we're talking Castro with these two teams. It'd probably be straight up with Stanton. With Upton, pobably something added for the Cubs to balance out a Upton and Bauer deal.

That's a guy right up KW's alley. Past his prime stud.

Fortunately, he's no longer in charge.
