Are the Borderlands games fun if you don't play online or have friends that are into it? Basically will it be fun to play solo? There's some pretty good deals out for the first one.
I prefer to play them solo. You can take your time with every encounter, and really delve into the side missions. It's not always: Go Go Go Go Go Go.
I played with my close buddy for the first 13 levels when the game came out, we both agreed after the fact that it was more enjoyable to play without each other.
You'll get better loot with more people in the group, but solo wise, loot is fine.

Thanks. I went ahead and bought the first one. Excited to play it.
Season pass for 10.50 after coupon code. Cheapest I have ever seen it and I can't think of any time I have seen Steam discount that. You get a code and it activates on steam, pretty simple and straight forward.
Also borderlands 2 itself is 21 dollars which is cheaper than Steam.
I bought this game. I liked Borderlands 1. Played through quite a lot of it and got to level 61, or 63.
How comparable is this game to the first 1 ?
Also, I'm stuck between getting Zero, or the solider. A lot of the times I'll just run into the middle of a ****show and start shooting and melee-ing people. I did this in the first one, but with a soldier with my turret health regen, a soldier only item (forget the name) regen and the ability to health regen when I killed someone coupled with a sheild around 2k and fast recharge this wasn't a problem in the later stages.
Finally picked up this game, as well. Total blast. I was looking for something to (thankfully) take me away from the soul sucking ragefest of CoD multiplayer and this did the trick.
I've been playing through split screen co-op with my wife as well as a solo run with another character. Having trouble finding truly awesome weapons and equipment without getting Golden Keys and opening the Sanctuary chest.
I read somewhere that after you beat the game you basically enter a New Game+ that allows you to replay story missions and fight old bosses as much as you want? is that true? What's the best way to farm Legendary/Epic weapons, shields, etc. playing solo or co-op?

It's a replay of the story, but everyone is tougher and you get better loot. You can already go back and fight old bosses. I just re-fought Boom and Bewm.
Good weapons and all that are hard to come by. You really gotta look for chests in hidden areas.Right now, at level 15 I'm rocking a pistol that does 70 damage + fire damage with a 20 clip magazine. Anything and everything human dies very fast (unless they're fire resistant). My shield has spike damage + fire while being 370 I think. My character's specific item gives me a health boost + health regen. Being Zero, I've spent my points on upgrading Melee damage and health. I've used my tokens to upgrade both, too.
However, I still get down fast I'd say.
If you do have the key for the chest in Sanctuary don't use it till later in the game.
Wow you guys will have to excuse me for necroing this thread over and over again, but what an amazing game. Just got to sanctuary and met Scooter and... wow.
The characters in this game, the story itself so far, it's really refreshing to see an FPS (with RPG elements) do singleplayer right. I'm having so much fun just doing the side quests and loot whoring everything, and I'm only in Chapter 2!
Yeah, I pumped a good 70+ hours out of this game. Just beat the Warrior on TVHM and I'm maxed out at level 50 with my primary character.
I suppose I can get into the DLCs and farm for legendary equipment and weapons, but I don't know if I'll go down that route. Feel like I've pretty much accomplished everything there is to accomplish in the game.
Fantastic game and one of the best I've played in a long time.

Is there a 2nd play through?
I want purple items (mainly for the achievement), but I have a hard time finding them.
Weapons that do skag damage are awesome. As the ninja with pumped up melee damage I skag people and then melee the **** out of them.

Yes the TVH mode is enabled after you get through the first play through. Purple items are not as hard to get on the second play through, it's the orange Legendary items you will be looking for.
