The hidden beauty of that sequence is that he had arguably the best backchecker in the NHL draped all over his back in Hossa and still was able to elude Toews, Sharp, and the defencemen(Campbell or Campoli?)
Best almost goal? How about one that wins the Stanley Cup?

Yeah, why bother acquainting yourself with what the rules actually were, when you can just regurgitate that stupid photo that completely ignores the context of the entire play?
That is just a wicked play... especially when you consider it's OT in the cup finals. Datsyuk has been such a treat to watch all these years, I really hope he doesn't go back to Russia when his contract ends in 2014, but it's his choice.
Its plays like this that make me miss hockey. Guys like Pavel, who are ridiculous talents on both ends of the rink, make the game fun to watch...make you forget the bullcrap were going through now. I think ill just youtube Datsyuk at work all day.
Sergei Samsonov averaged one almost-goal per game when he was a Blackhawk. over 2o games, and didn't score once. It was borderline unbelievable, and almost ruined his career.
Can't find any videos. Probably because, someone can correct me if I am wrong, Hawks games were still not televised at that time. Samsonov played at the start of '07-'08. The games wer put back on TV, only partially, later that season.

Reason: Added tv blackout bit.

And a minority of people still argue it was a good goal
One that I've read about and really wish I could find video of:
Against the Golden Seals, Bobby Orr got hit at center ice and lost his glove. The Seals dumped the puck in, and Orr went back to get it, started an end to end rush, and picked up his glove at center while stickhandling with one hand. He got in for a shot but Gary Smith made a save.
