From MLBTR

Quote:
Although he is drawing interest from other teams around the league, Ichiro Suzuki prefers to re-sign with the Yankees according to his agent Tony Attanasio. Attanasio told George A. King III of The New York Post that his client is willing to wait to see if New York wants him back after working out new contracts with Mariano Rivera and potentially Andy Pettitte.

"They are going after pitching first which is what the Yankees normally do," said Attanasio. "There has been a lot of interest [from teams], but he enjoyed playing for the Yankees so much it’s hard for him to say no to the Yankees. His preference is to stay there instead of going someplace else, but we will wait and see."

That's pretty cool to see. I'd be happy to have Ichiro back.

I'd be fine with Ichiro coming back. Swisher on the other hand not so much.

Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal
New money that #Mets offered Wright in seven-year extension is $119M-$129M, according to source. Updating my earlier column now.

Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal
Sources: #Yankees optimistic about completing deals for both Pettitte, Rivera this week. Pettitte likely one yr above $10M, Rivera higher.

I worry a little about all the money that the Yankees are spending on those older players, but they need the pitching. I just hope Pettitte and Mo can still deliver.

If he pitched the way he did last year I'll be fine with this signing.

Rotation looks a lot better than it did early last week with him and Pettitte added, but again like last off season, there are question marks - what will we get from Hughes? can Kuroda and Pettitte continue to pitch like they did? will Nova wake up? what can we expect from Phelps and Pineda when he comes back? I'd be a lot more comfortable having one more guy like an Edwin Jackson who can eat innings or guys like Marcum or Haren

Also, Braves have signed BJ Upton, 5 yrs @ $70-75m

A question on offense is what will the Yanks do at catcher? I don't think Martin will be back.

I forgot about him too. If he regains his form from Seattle, he could be very good.

I'll be upset if he busts and Martin walks and we end up needing a catcher like Montero.

Five years ain't that bad though, it's not a Jayson Werth deal. Or even a Reyes deal.

Yeah, considering Upton is only 28, that's not a terrible contract. In terms of WAR Upton has been worth over $15.0M in each of the last three seasons. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx...ition=OF#value

i'll take upton at that price over bourn on the same length at 16-17, and those were our only two options.

If that's what the Yankees offered then I don't blame Russ for leaving. He was making $7.5 million last season, they can't expect him to take a pay cut in what should be his prime.

I guess we're rolling with Cervelli and Romine this year.

That could get interesting, I'm not fully confident in either. We spent so long with Posada being a fixture back there that I forgot how much turnover there is among most catchers.

And the Mets officially re-sign Wright - 8 years, $138 million.

Overpayment for sure, but the Mets kinda had to do it. It's important to the Met fan they finally have a homegrown star be a lifelong Met.
