"I know they're good people," Suter said of Leipold and GM Chuck Fletcher. "And I know they wouldn't negotiate thinking, 'OK, let's give them this because it'll end up being this.' Just moving forward, I don't want to get into a battle. "I'm just trying to be honest with you. I don't question Craig. I don't feel like it was negotiated unfaithfully or untruthfully. ... The main thing is we just love playing hockey, so we're frustrated right now."
Suter, why would you even say this?

I liked it more before he started backtracking. I wish more players would start calling out there specific owners...at least their would be entertainment value to the lockout.

Don't be so sure about that!

On a separate note, Eager's facing upgraded charges from his bar fight:

http://www.torontosun.com/2012/10/26...onto-bar-fight

Quote:
The brothers were originally charged with threatening bodily harm, assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon and then released, police said.

But police laid an additional assault charge against both men on Friday and the assault causing bodily harm charges have been upgraded to aggravated assault.
It doesn't sound like the injuries were too serious - the security guard was treated for bruises at the hospital. But still...Eager's such an idiot of a guy

I agree with him wholeheartedly, actually. He entered negotiations with someone that was clearly not negotiating in good faith, as obvious by the owners asking for massive rollbacks just months later.

He's not going to be hurting economically, obviously, but anyone would be rightfully ticked at their salary being cut 20-30%, whether you make five figures or seven.

Suter absolutely knew what was going on, why do you think he got the deal structured the way he did?

No sympathy for this guy.

I really think the contracts were negotiated in good faith. I think Leipold was able to separate the contract offers from the CBA issues at the time, just like Ilitch, Snider, Wirtz, etc. I can't see so many of these owners colluding on offers (especially upfront bonus money), so I think Leipold's offers were legitimate.

I believe Leipold (I don't like him) negotiated in good faith and I think Suter knows he should have kept his mouth shut. Leipold isn't going to hesitate to try to get some money back but I really think his focus was landing the FAs. If he was looking to nickle and dime over the summer, he wouldn't have put the bonus money up front instead he would have loaded up the front of the salary or he would have tacked on even more salary than the competition because he knew he would get so much back.

It's a shame Fehr didn't have more time to get the players to work through some of these situations, it would have prevented some of these ridiculous rants.

I agree with this. I'm enjoying the rants, even if they are a bad idea.

Dan Boyle being a fool too, sucked Marleau right in. I actuall do feel bad for StLouis, so I'll give him a pass. Snakebit when it comes to the timing of labor disputes.

Is it bright to use the NHL run website to post your blog entry rant against the owners?

Go Get em' Jack

As Jack put it, he's operating on his "principals"...I'm not sure who those people are.

I wonder if Don is going to give him a high-five or a different suggestion.

even if a deal gets done and we have a season, the Winter Classic will not be uncanceled

I read that Cowen is out for the year for the Senators. He's going to need surgery on his hip. Tough break for the Sens.

Not really a better place for this, but I loved one of the stories Oates told at his HOF induction last night.

Per Friedman:

http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockey/opin...contracts.html

8. Adam Oates said he knew he'd arrived in the NHL when he and Brett Hull stood listening to the national anthems before Game 7 of the 1990 Norris Division final against Chicago. Hull nudged Oates and told him to look up. A fan had two dummies hung in effigy -- one with Hull's number, the other with Oates's. Of course, he used this as motivation, right? "No, we got killed," he said. Final score was 8-2.

Surprised that they didn't do that sooner. The Phoenix metro area isn't like Chicago or New York, where there's an obvious massive city that runs everything. There are eight cities there besides Phoenix that have populations over a hundred thousand, six of which have over two hundred thousand, and the team itself is in one of those larger non-metropole cities.

That being said, not over yet. Still have my doubts about Jamison's resources until he writes a check to the league that doesn't bounce.

I guess that they will be getting new uniforms and logos to go with the name change.

Also heard a rumor the Dallas Stars may be switching to the Cowboys' color scheme. Barf.

Go back to this set:

Think that the Starboys thing is just a rumor without any real merit. They're obviously considering a sweater change, but hopefully it's as you mentioned and a return to what they once had over a color swap.

Well, if Dallas goes RWB or to the Cowboys' scheme, the Wild can switch to the North Stars' scheme.

Josh Harding has been diagnosed with MS.

I'm not too familiar with the disease, but if it affects the balance and vision, how does he play goalie now?

Every case is different. It can take years for the symptoms to really become an issue. I don't see any long term contracts coming up for Harding, but he could still play in the NHL for years to come, especially since he says he still feels great.

No matter when the next season starts, I can guarantee that if Josh plays, he'll be getting nominated for the Masterton.

Wish him the best. Terrible news.

That's true. I live in Phoenix and the whole area is one giant ****ing suburb. It's awful.

Am told by 2 NHL sources that #Bruins owner Jeremy Jacobs forced employees to pay tax on 2011 Stanley Cup rings. About $7K per ring. Some support staff couldn't afford the tax up front, so players stepped up and covered the cost so they could get rings too.

What a greedy ****** this JJ guy is.
