Via list, Johnny Engine selects Brad May and Gary Howatt

I'll get to my skipped picks some time tonight hopefully.

In the future, please post the positions of players you draft so whoever is updating the original post doesn't also have to google them.

Edit, and I assume you mean Garry (two r's) Howatt, LW?

I love Howatt. He would have been my top choice for a 3rd or 4th line left wing in the AA draft, if there is one.

The Monsters select defenseman Pat Quinn.

I suppose we'll take offensive-minded European forward, Igor Liba. If you consider all the scoring he did in all the leagues he played in, he nearly reached 1000 points in his 22 year career.

He was a mainstay on the Czech National team in the 80s, and he also captained numerous Czech and Slovak league championship teams.

Ken Mallen, RW and one of my favorite players of all time, for partially frivolous reasons, Mike Rathje, D

Eisbaren selects RW Brian Mullen, who exemplified great consistency for this level, surpassing 50 points for 9 straight seasons, one of just four players in this draft to have 9 seasons of 50 or more points(the others being Olli Jokinen, Vinny Prospal, Eddie Olczyk, and Jozef Stumpel, who were all taken at the beginning of the draft).

Actually a two-way forward, and about 10 times the player that say Stumpel is.

Don't be silly, madarcand. Mullen was never the best player on line or even close. Stumpel led his line what, 6, 7 times? Stumpel was twice top-13 in points, how close did Mullen get?

Not to criticize Mullen, he is a good pick for now since he can play two wings, but a more accurate measure of his consistency would be to show many times he hit a certain adjusted points or percentage score benchmark, not raw points in the 80s.

Edit: I am leaving the top part in because it's funny. I replied too soon. Madarcand was not talking about Mullen, he was talking about our pick, Liba! LOL, sorry.

The Golden Stick Voting doesn't really disagree, but I'm probably higher on European players than most (I realize he had a short-lived NHL career).

I'll admit, if I could read Czech/Slovak I probably would have drafted Liba ages ago reading about his two-way abilities in broken English via google translate. I just couldn't make enough sense of it so he got shifted to the top of the AA list.

We had no idea he had two way abilities.. we were just taking him as a scoring forward who could play more than one position.

Yeah...that's why it sucks you guys had to take him

All the North American material like LoH is pretty thin on him, but I translated a few articles that had more detail.

Here's what his Czech HHOF profile says
Quote:
Often considered najvšestrannejšieho Czech and Slovak hockey player 80th years - excellent skater, both physically and technically well-equipped and well-balanced offensive and defensive activities.
Leaving that word in hopes MadArcand can tell us it means something like "best" or "very good"

I didn't realize he played more than one position, is it just wings? If he can play center as well I'm going to feel some buyer's remorse with Ketola.

That word means 'the most well-rounded/all-around'.

He played a lot of center in the league, so he's proficient at all forward positions. There's a reason I took him as spare twice or so in the ATD.

Well that's disappointing, should have pulled the trigger awhile ago

I ask because you had Blue=Bohumil down pat, are you a google translate God or familiar with the languages?
(and by God I mean manually searching for one word which I'm incapable of)

Blue = Modry, Bohumil would be something like God-loved

And if Mike's screenname is his actual name, I wouldn't be surprised if he's somewhat familiar with it (though yes, Farkas is actually a Hungarian name, but it's not rare to see it in Slovakia).
