confirm. Lubo was not going to be re-signed, and we get, what we think, is good value here.

Martin is likely to be moved today. He is going to go cheap. Get a Dman coming off a poor season on the cheap.

EDIT: My bad, "cheap" isn't very specific. The top offer currently is a 3rd 2013.

We ARE looking for a 2nd pairing dman. Either
a) A good, mid-aged one for prospects+picks
b) An older vet on expiring contract w/ higher salary

Enstrom and Kane getting a lot of love.

Enstrom currently has a top offer.

Kane is getting interest from multiple teams, no true top offer as negotiations aren't completed, but plenty of interesting offers.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have made another move to revamp their roster, acquiring former 5th overall prospect Brett Connolly, as well as forward Teddy Purcell, from the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for centre Derick Brassard, veteran forward Vinny Prospal, gritty winger Matt Calvert, and Columbus's 3rd round pick in the upcoming 2013 draft.

"With some of the deals we've already made, we realized that you can't put draft picks on the ice. This was very much a hockey trade that we're very happy with." Jackets GM TribalPhoenix stated in a release this afternoon.

"We've acquired an elite forward prospect who is already developing his game in the NHL, as well as a 65 point forward in Teddy Purcell who will slide into a top 6 role immediately. It hurt giving up Derick Brassard, but we felt a change of scenery may be good for him in the long run while Vinny Prospal will get another chance at a Cup with Tampa Bay where has already won one. Matt Calvert is a solid prospect, and giving up a pick is always hard, but we feel we've gained great quality in this transaction."
Tampa confirms this deal, welcoming Vinny Prospal back to the fold. We're also thrilled with the addition of Derrick Brassard and Matt Calvert, two forwards with plenty of long-term potential who will make an immediate impact on our roster next season.

We wish Brett and Teddy the best of luck in their future endeavours.

I don't really understand the Tampa perspective on that trade.. but I don't really have a firm grasp on Brassard's value anymore either.

I agree. Brassard's value is all over the place. I happen to believe he could be a good #2 center who can play the point on the PP, but with each passing year he wastes away in CLB it gets harder to defend.

TRADE

Bryce Salvador

Tomas Kaberle, Dalton Thrower and '13 3rd round pick

''We are very happy to add a defensive presence like Bryce Salvador to our team. His size, toughness and experience are all much needed assets to our defence group and he will help turn around our team into a playoff team for next year.

Tomas Kaberle is a quality player but we had too many of the same type defenceman so we needed to make a change. Thrower is a great prospect and his loss will hurt but it was a needed move. We wish them both the best in New-Jersey.''

The Devils confirm

Bryce has been an absolute soldier for us here in NJ and we hate to see him go however we have like Tomas Kaberle's game for a long time and feel Boston and Carolina were poor fits for his game. We expect to bring him in and let him play in the top-4 with PP time and be a mentor and leader in our locker room.

Dalton Thrower is a prospect we liked going into last years draft and we feel that a player with his heart, work ethic and skills will make the NHL. We love his no nonsense attitude and feel he will fit in well with the type of team we will be putting together moving forward.

We wish Bryce luck in Montreal and feel he will compliment a very offensive blue-line in Montreal.

Keith Kinkaid
Seth Helgeson

Paul Martin

Martin simply wasn't a fit here in Pittsburgh. He had great success in NJ and requested he return there if we were to move him.

We are thrilled to grab a goaltending prospect with starter potential in Kinkaid. And we are big fans of Helgeson's hustle as well.

Trade!!

Joel Armia + BUF 3rd '13

Patrick Elias

We, here in New Jersey would like to thank Patrick for his years of service. He has been a model Devil for many years winning numerous Stanley Cups and representing our organization with class and dignity.

We are in a rebuild at the moment and know he has the skills to continue to be effective at this level and would like to give him the opportunity to do so. We feel he will have a good run with Buffalo this year with the team they are putting together.

We are VERY excited to welcome Armia into our prospect pool as we see him as having an elite skill set that will compliment our prospects well. He has prototypical size for a power forward and look forward to the day when he will be alongside Henrique playing in Newark.

Prospects in so far:
Armia
Thrower
Dumba
Clendening

Picks in:
MIN 1st '13
CHI 2nd '13
MON 3rd '13
BUF 3rd '13

Players in:
Kaberle
Clutterbuck

Players out:
Clarkson
Zajac
Elias
Salvador

OTB:
Kovalchuk
Greene
Zubrus
Tallinder
Zidlicky

Devils confirm!

We are excited to be able to bring back Paul to Newark where he had his success. We feel that he just needs a fresh start as his style was not a match for Pittsburgh's play. We forsee him being an anchor in our top-4 and playing key PP time once he gets his feet under him again.

We were high on Kinkaid and Helgeson but with the additions of Thrower, Dumba and Clendening so far (hopefully with more to come), we felt Helgeson had been surpassed and we feel Wedgewood is the future in goal.

Brassard is definitely the wild card in this deal. I think he can turn things around after some uninspiring seasons in Columbus, enough to sour any young player's first few seasons in the league.

...In related news, Vinny Lecavalier remains on the block.

Chris Kunitz getting lots of offers. Only going to be moved in a package for an upgrade on wing or defense.

UPDATE

If you need a competitive backup to push your starting goalie and win some key games, Viktor Fasth is your guy. We're not asking for much as we want to give him a chance to play and it won't happen in Anaheim with Hiller and Bernier.

We will also listen to other offers (see my updated roster) but don't ask about Fowler or the recently acquired roster players.

PM!

Trade to announce out of Pittsburgh.

We were determined to be a cup contender, and we've made a few moves to push us even closer so far. But we aren't done, we felt that our Top 6 needed one more talented winger.

Val Filppula

Olli Maata

Again, our depth of D prospects is huge, and we view Morrow, Depres Harrington, among others as guys who can make an impact around the core we currently have. Maata is going to be a great NHL player most likely, but we felt we could move him without a huge hit to our prospect pool. Adding a guy like Filppula is huge- his playmaking and two-way skills are hugely underrated in the league.

I currently have 15 offers for Matt Stajan.
Don't bother asking about him unless you're prepared to give up your two top prospects, your entire 1st line, and Cam Barker.

confirm. Its unfortunate to lose a prospect like Armia, but we felt we have enough prospect depth to overcome it. Elias is a great winger, coming off a 78 point season, and will be a great addition to our 2nd line as we push for the playoffs.

Blockbuster in Pittsburgh.

I'm tired of typing. This trade was self explanatory. Paul Martin didn't work out, we acquired some future assets for him, including a possible future starter in Kinkaid. We immediately set out to find a replacement and we've done that.

Alex Edler
Anton Rodin
Conditional Van 3rd 2014

Chris Kunitz
Simon Depres
Pittsburgh 2nd 2013

This move gives us a Top 20 NHL Dman in Alex Edler, who plays the left side (a side we're weak on). He's excelled in the past playing with offensive partners, and we plan on taking advantage of that with Kris Letang. We're thrilled to grab a guy like Rodin, who has a high ceiling and just needs some more time to work on his defensive game and consistency.

We wish Chris Kunitz and Simon Depres the best of luck in Vancouver.

We may make one more move on D, but we're quite confident in our bottom pairing despite the league underrating them.

Filppulla-Crosby-Dupuis
Umberger-Malkin-Neal
Tangradi-Sutter-Kennedy
Cooke-Vitale-Armstrong
Glass, Adams

Edler-Letang
Orpik-Wisniewski
Strait-Lovejoy
Engelland, Bortuzzo

Fleury
Vokoun

We here in Ottawa are happy to have added a good veteran player like Danny to our team. He will play on our 3rd line
