You know if we don't win in the shootouts with this kind of talent, it'll be doubly tragic that we'll be missing out on some much-needed extra points that would make this team a bubble team come playoff time (NHL). Skill needs to translate. Whatever, sounds like we didn't deserve this one at all anyways.
Eberle has been poor in SO's this year, did he try his backhand tonight? I missed his attempt.

Felt really weird that Schultz looked so much more comfortable and smoother than Hall in the shootout.
I missed Schultz' attempt, but Hall is not a breakaway player that scores a ton when he's in all alone, he's got a lot of work to do in that area. IMO that was actually a decent attempt by him all things considered. Personally I would've preferred if he tried a snap shot instead.
Hall should not be in shootouts that is not his thing
I seem to remember a guy who wore the number 99 where it wasn't exactly his thing either. Of course we had rather high expectations that he'd score EVERY time.
That makes me think, if shootouts were around back in the glory days, would Wayne be in them all? It's not like they didn't have a number of other players they could put out there (#11, #17, #9 etc.)
Why have I never heard of #11 Eric Hunter?
University of Alberta boy.
He played for the PG Cougars several years ago, he was a pretty good player back then, not sure about nowadays though, i havent seen him play since he played here.

Remember that move Bobby Nilsson used to do on shootouts? Drive it wide at top speed, quick backhand forehand, snap shot far side? That's what Hall needs to do. He's got the shot and the speed to make that work, just a matter of a little conviction coming in on the goalie. Simple, effective move. All our boys over think the shootout.

Schultz's move was same as Eberle's tonight, forehand backhand forehand. The difference being Schultz wasn't in as tight as Eberle was when he shot, and he had time to lift the puck up hitting top shelf.

Yeah exactly, it's just feel weird watching a defenseman being so prolific on the shootout. I had watched a few Schultz's college highlights on breakaway and shootout, the guy is better at it than most forwards. Amazing!
We aren't nearly as good as we think we are this year. Our blueline got a whole lot younger and frankly, so did our forwards.
There are tons of guys in the AHL who're great at the AHL level who have a lot of experience and it seems this year like our farm club suffers from lack of experience just as much as our pro club does.
