Yeah I could see that. He'll get overpaid though and I certainly don't think his power spike is legit.

But he is the best catcher left on the FA market unless Napoli as a catcher counts.

Gotta think Rangers will in on Pierzynski as well.

He wants to catch and wants to get paid like a good one. Except teams don't think he is a catcher.

Which is quite insane considering they have AJ Ellis who put up a .373 OBP last season (drool!).

So apparently the Red Sox may move off of Napoli and onto LaRoche.

Also, old man Rivera re upped with the yanks for one more year. I have a feeling he's gonna be pretty pedestrian this year for some reason. He's been great even as an older player but I've got a feeling he's not gonna be quite as lights out as he's been in the past.

It really just seems like the Dodgers are desperate to find ways to spend money. It's just insane what they've been doing.

He may be the best closer ever but Rivera is what 43 yrs old?
I wasn't overly impressed with him in 2011.

Just don't let him shag flies again.

Yankees not expected to go hard after Mike Napoli or AJ Pierzynski as replacement for Martin.

Uhh okay. I wonder what they are going to do this off-season.

His 2011 season was better than 2010 and 2010 was pretty darn good.

As much as it pains me to say it he's likely very much the best closer of all time. But yeah he's getting up there and coming off an injury that had him sidelined for a year. I just have a feeling it'll be a different more normal type of closer.

I should add that I think he'll go from elite to good/great

Could be worse, you could sign Miguel Olivo.

I think John Buck could make sense for them -- looking at how bad the market is, he might be the third best catcher behind Pierzynski and Napoli ("catcher" is used loosely towards Napoli).

Why did Laroche turn down his qualifying offer? He was going to get somewhere near 13.3 mill.

Coming of a career year. Now is the time for him to cash in on a multi year deal.

In 2011 He doesn't intimidate me like he used to. I no longer feel that the game is over just because he is coming in from the bullpen, like I would have a few years earlier.

He's still great, but I used to walk away from the TV when he came in in the 9th.

I would have already had him at the great level for a few years. I know he is still in the heads of a lot of players, but he isn't invincable anymore.

I'm not trying to insult him. I would compare him to... Like the Wayne Gretzky who only scores 110pts a year. He just isn't the same as he used to be but he still might be 3rd best in the league.

Just looked up Delgado's baseball ref. Criminal that this guy was only an All Star TWICE. He has borderline HOF numbers.
