I agree.

Serah Gamble stepped down after last season and the new showrunner is Jeremy Carver who worked with Supernatural till he 5th season where he left when it was over. Gamble was in charge in season 6 and 7 which explains why the quality dropped...

3 episodes in and our first filler, dont like it. The least they can to is to ad a sidestory that laps through the season when the show is not on the main story. Like the vampirealpha, didnt he say "See you again in season 8" ?

So we have 2 supernaturalfans here? Cool.

Seems to be another filler, a werewolf one.

Season 6 and 7 were terrible. Surprised that there even was a season 7 the way 6th went. So far, this season - the last for the series - has started off well. However, I find that they're running out of new ideas to keep it somewhat fresh.

For example, Sam now wants to start a family and live a normal life. But he speaks to Dean as if he never went through it .... ugh, the bridge between season 5 and 6 when Sam was trapped with Lucifer. A bit redundant.

Not definite.

Agree with the family part. Though Dean had to abandon them in order to protect them.

Despite the annoyance with filler episodes, I still find this show highly entertaining. But when Dean was giving Sam crap for wanting a normal life...hypocrisy.

I agree.

Dean went to hell - Sam went to hell

Dean had a normal life - Sam had a normal life

Sam had issues with Demon blood - Sam had issues with satan - sam has issues with hunting

Sam died - dean died

Etc. The are repeating storylines all the time.

Me too. Supernatural meets "Chronicle", except this was done much better than that movie. Probably one of the best filler episodes, if not ever, at least in a loooong while.

I liked the episode as much as the next guy. But they should really try to have at least a tiny bit of main plot info thrown into the episode. Like where the hell cas exactly is for example.

Liked the new episode. I'm starting to like Benny as well. Anyone else get a Pattinson vibe from the "father"? Thought he was handled a bit too easily.

Yeah, benny is a cool character. Hopefully they can involve him with this seasons alphastoryline. I mean, the alphavampire did say he was coming back in "season 8"

Dude, isn't that season 5? Then you have season 6 and 7 + this seasons episode to watch

I hope we get to find out what happened to Castiel in Purgatory soon. The suspense is killing me

Ughhh, Garth.... Though I have to say I almost had a spit take when the "Texas Ranger" first appeared. He looks like a freak but is unusually funny. Basically another filler episode that mainly focused on Sam/Dean conflicts.

What really annoys me about Supernatural is that the writes are fillercrazy. They should use Joss Whedon as a blueprint for how to make a show. (Read BUFFY)
That is what Doctor Who did and that worked out great. Buffy (post season 3/4) did not have many fillers. The story was written so that every episode played an important part in its main story, even if there was a "monster of the week" episode, it always contained important storyelements. So every episode is important. Atleast later in the series. The first seasons had alot of "fillers" while the later seasons did not have many at all.

Supernatural has failed to do that. 1 episode is about sam/dean. 3 fillers. 1 episode about kevin/crowley. 1 episdoe about sam and dean. Fillers again. 1 episode about sam and dean. Fillers again. Kevin/crowley is back. THis is how the show feels at the moment.

DO IT LIKE WHEDON

Garth is amazing and should get more screentime.

Finally the plot moves on and Cas is back for good! Amanda Tapping The minor grievances or lagging plot lines covered in one strike, what really happened in Purgatory and Castiel coming out of there as well.

Filler episode but Cas totally killed it in this one.

Dean: "So what's the word, Cas?"
Cas: "An abbreviation of my name."

Going all Columbo with the first victim's widow.

Cas: "I'll interrogate the cat."

And later on to that cat: "I'm not through with you". Cat: "Dumbass"

it's episodes like these that make me think why they ever made Cas evil and had him disappear for parts of the season.

Misha Collins had other work and wasn't available for every episode.

Speaking of good filler episodes, has any one of them topped the one where they broke the 4th wall and ended up in the "real world", on the set of Supernatural?
