But it is clear they take different approaches with different guys.

What I think he was talking about more than anything is they keep out of some of the you must do this stuff. They encourage guys to develop certain parts of their game but really just want them to do their very best for their current team. Kind of a winning mentality, like Nedomlel offense shoots up but he isn't pulling his weight defensively. Concentrate in your own zone help your team win more was his message.

They also do a lot of talk about dominating your shift and making a difference the whole game. Harping on uneven performances, I don't think it is just statistics. How does Marchenko look when he is actually playing, that kind of stuff? If we were coaching would he be earning more ice time? I think it is a feel process, but the message to each guy is if you're dominating that impresses us the most, which is an easier message to communicate.

But even guys like Nestrasil, Jurco, and Tvrdon have heard or been told the numbers might indicate dominance but we don't see it enough.
With Almqvist they were not happy with his role in the SEL so that's why they had him come over. So the only way I see Marchenko ever playing in the AHL is if the DRW brass are not happy with is role in the KHL. Otherwise I see him likely making the jump from the KHL to the NHL.

Great news with Sproul, he's definitely picked up where he left off.

Not sure if Pulu is/was injured. Played like 5 mins today, and barely at all during the third period. Probably the least on the team.

In the 2nd period he got hit pretty hard and skated to the bench but didn't look hurt. I don't really trust those icetimes, I'm sure he played more than 5 minutes. Just not much in the 3rd period. A weaker game for him for sure but the effort was there, which is good.

On a side note, former Griffin Filppula sr. on fire again, 1+1 including assist on the game winner 3 seconds before the end of OT. Really the heart and soul of their offense now that Val is injured. Leads SM-liiga in scoring with 35 pts in 26 games.

Jarnkrok with his first multi-goal game of the season today, apparently playing with one of Lindholm's sticks. Asked if he was gonna give it back, he said "he can forget about it".

Yeah, last four points have been goals now. His point production has dipped otherwise, but the team has struggled as a whole. Still, he's 8th in the scoring race. If he can surpass his totals from last year and reach towards 45 points this will have been a good year considering the worse surroundings and the fact that he is the leading scorer of the team. It's great that Lindholm is the team's second best scorer, but it shows their weakness in scoring. Lindholm is actually yet to score an even strength goal, while Thuresson has 9 points in 28 games. Those are the linemates for Calle..

That's funny, everyone at Jatkoaika was praising his game in the first period. Some speculated he had equipment issues at the start of the second since he didn't show up at the bench until a little later.

watching the Barrie colts game, Athanasiou with a great goal, the kids skating is absolutely amazing, he has great hands as well and can use them real well with his speed.

As he should, by the way curious can we do that if the league isn't running?

Don't know... maybe they can or Håkan just assumes there will be a CBA by then.

Quine with an assist and Athanasiou with that goal last night. Both were -1.

Andersson also said that he should stay in Sweden "until he gets to play for the National team and maybe the World Champs". The plan, with little surprise, would be to keep him at home for another year.

Jiri Fischer called him "the most improved defenseman in the league".

The Greek AA"s deke at the end of that clip moving full speed was a work of art. Looked a little dats to me.

Thanks for the info. He should rocket up the prospect charts, he's done nothing but show dramatic improvement since being drafted.

Shooting power: 9/10
Shooting accuracy: 8/10
Hitting: 7/10
Agressiveness: 7/10
Intensity: 7/10
Defensive coverage: 8/10
Poke checking: 9/10
Shot blocking: 7/10
Overall awareness: 9/10
Hockey sense: 9/10

Read a pre-draft scouting article on Andreas Athanasiou. He says he idolizes Datsyuk and Bure. I'm sure he's joping Pavs stays around for a while

That looked like vintage Fedorov to me.

I think this kid has Filppula-like upside.

Starting to wonder if Paterson is going to have any confidence whatsoever if this season continues like this. I know the team is bad but I feel like everytime I check a statline he just got lit up again.
